XVII Party Congress nicknamed The Congress of the Victors due to the economic successes of The First FiveYear Plan, and also it was named The Congress of the Condemned. 1,996 party members which attended Congress, 1,108 members were arrested later, about two thirds of those executed within next three years. The chief designer for illustrations in this edition is Isaak Brodsky (1883-1939) - one of the founder of socialist realism movement.A lot of plates inside, mostly made by Nikolai Kochergin (1897-1974) - master of Soviet realistic political posters. This book by 'Communist Valkyrie', a Russian revolutionary, politician, diplomat, and Marxist theoretician Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952) was published in the year of the First Russian Revolution. It was banned and confiscated by the czarist police Kollontai herself was exiled from Russia in 1908.Kollontai did not identify as a feminist. She understood "feminism" as bourgeois politics, the politics of a particular class of women. However, she helped liberalize divorce, gave women access to their own earnings, and advocated for women's right to sexual autonomy. Kollontai also was the first woman in history to become an official member of a governing cabinet. The book was issued by the important female publisher Mariia Malykh (1879-1967). The book was translated from the German edition Die Frauen und die Politik (first published Berlin, 1903). Very likely this book was issued by the important female publisher Mariia Malykh (1879-1967). Her Marxist publishing house was mostly concentrated on social and political themes.
