In the 1980s he became part of the avant-garde literary movement in East Berlin and his books, which were often a combination of words and graphics, gained attention in the literary world. He has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Anna-Seghers Prize and the Kaernten County Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Awards.

The text is in Serbian.<p>Dubravka Duric was born in 1961 in Dubrovnik, Croatia and lives in Belgrade, Serbia. She is a poet, an essayist, a performer and a translator of American poetry. The present volume was her first book. Among her other poetry collections are "Traps" [1995] and "Cosmopolitan Alphabet" [1995]. She is an editor of ProFemina and lectures at the Center for Women's Studies in Belgrade. She is the editor, with Misko Suvokovic, of "Impossible Histories Impossible Histories: Historic Avant-Gardes, Neo-Avant-Gardes, and Post-Avant-Gardes in Yugoslavia, 1918-1991 [MIT Press, 2004].<p>Scarce.

Good. <p>First edition.<p>Einaudi Letteratura 48.<p>Poet, artist and translator Jirí Kolar [1914-2002] was a significant artistic and cultural figure in the Czech Republic. He saw firsthand and was influenced by many of the momentous changes that occurred in Europe during the 20th century. Between the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 and the division of the Czech and Slovak Republics in 1993, Eastern Europe had experienced two World Wars and the oppressive stranglehold of the Eastern Bloc. Although often whimsical, his work contains strong political undertones.<p>The introductory essay by Angelo Maria Ripellino is in Italian.

As he was growing up he cultivated an interest in the arts, especially poetry, photography and cinema, but also pursued scientific studies, graduating in physics at the Polytechnic in Milan. He made his artistic debut as a visual poet in 1965. As he began to present solo shows/exhibitions, Vaccari developed the idea of a "real-time display"--a show which changed through time and was open to feedback and outside stimuli and to interaction with the viewers. Among other real-time displays, he presented "Real-time display no. 19: Codemondo" at the Venice Biennale in 1980.,<p>Scarce.

Since 1972 he has dedicated himself to experimental and visual poetry, employing a wide range of media and techniques, including photography, painting, installations, electrography, performance, video and computer. Among his publications are three other anthologies of Portugese visual and experimental poetry.<p>Number 22 in the series Experimentelle Texte. An essay on Portuguese visual poetry by Aguiar is printed in Portuguese, English and German.

Fenollosa also contributes an essay on Chinese ideograms and poetry.

Very good. <p>First edition.<p>The title translates as "Between one and two of the Elizabeth Bridge". Elizabeth Bridge is the third newest bridge of Budapest, Hungary. It connects Buda and Pest, spanning the narrowest part of the River Danube [290 meters] in the Budapest area. It is named after Elisabeth of Bavaria, a popular queen and empress of Austria-Hungary who was assassinated in 1898. Today there is a large bronze statue of Elisabeth in the middle of a small garden at the Buda side of the bridge.

Profuse visual and concrete poems, 1 of them in color. The pages are somewhat darkened. Good. <p>Paper-clipped to the front wrap is a corner of a mailing envelope with Jas Duke's return address penned on the return- address section. Though not indicated here, Duke was sending this copy of the book to Dick Higgins.<p>Jas Heriot Duke [1939-1992] was a cult figure in the Australian performance poetry scene, an Anarchist and political activist and an actor in many underground movies by filmmaker Jeff Keen. He discovered visual and sound poetry, along with the Dada movement, in the sixties. In the late seventies he became an active member of Collective Effort Press and was involved in the publication of this first anthology of Australian visual poetry.

"This Dress is Dyed with Hustler Magazine" by Danica Phelps is a photograph of the author in a loose white dress printed on one side of 7 inch high by 5 inch wide stiff white card stock and with a close up of the dress with text explaining that "Each panel of this dress is dyed with a different issue of Hustler magazine...." and the process involved.<p>7. "Love Poems for Audrey Hepburn" by Michael J. Phillips consists of 8 pages of visual poetry printed on 11 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide sheets of white paper laid into a brown manilla folder.<p>8. "L(ie)fe Boat" a poetry manuscript by Edward Francisco, consists of 24 pages printed on one side of 11 inch high by 8-12 inch wide sheets of white paper housed in a titled white envelope. The bottom left corners of the pages are creased.<p>9. "The Boxed Archives of Joseph Cornell" is a Posthumous Catalog compiled by Buck Pennington mechanically reproduced on seven 11 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide sheets of white paper stapled together at the top left corner.<p>RARE. A man of many talents, he has also edited cookbooks.
