Respectively 28, 24p., each a disbound pamphlet in 8.5x5 inch self-wraps describable similarly as slightly edgeworn with traces of old calf adhering along spine, both mildly foxed, good copies. The 1817 item by Gray is signed by him upper corner title page, this signature slightly impacted by minute chipping in the area.

A good-only copy. Sabin 18025. Criticism of a backroom deal between members of the Democratic and Free Soil parties in the state, co-signed by William Aspinwall and 166 other Whig members of the General Court of Massachusetts. Worcester, MA: Elihu Burritt, 1846. pp. 153-176, wraps bound with thread, pages remain uncut at the top; front cover has a faded area, otherwise mild handling wear and foxing. When Burritt, the "Learned Blacksmith," took over The Advocate of Peace, the publication of the American Peace Society, he renamed it The Advocate of Peace and Universal Brotherhood, and it took on a more radical pacifist position during the short tenure of his editorship. Contents of this issue include W.W. Story's poem "Plea for Peace," J.P. Blanchard writing in opposition to the Mexican War, Eliza Cook's poem "Harvest Song," a round-up of news about peace movements around the world, and more.
