Part of a fear-mongering campaign against the Wagner-Murray-Dingell bill for government support of medical care; warns that it wold change doctors to mere public employees who would work only eight hours a day, working to please their political masters rather than patients. Argues that this would be a decisive step towards federal control of all professions and industry in the US.

Pamphlet. Respectively 23, 7, 13p., very good copies in differing formats, all dating from the 1960s; sold as a small lot.

Tokyo: Futtowaaku Shuppan フットワーク出版, 1993. Paperback. 180, 18p., illustrated with cartoon figures, text in Japanese, very good reprint paperback in green pictorial wraps. The author was an internist for the Kinki area Health Center. The preface urges readers to not make the mistake of considering themselves immune while at the same time dispelling irrational fears about the dangers of AIDS. Contents include a chapter urging readers to get tested, explaining the procedure in detail and what the results mean; a chapter explaining AIDS prevention strategies (e.g. how "going on sex tours is suicidal," how anal sex is "strictly off limits," and how people should use snug Japanese-made condoms only); and a chapter on AIDS treatment. A substantial final section discusses the AIDS crisis around the world, noting how the disease has spread and what particular problems have been encountered in Africa, South America, Australia, the US, Asia, and Europe - and what these examples can tell Japan.

Washington DC: the Council, 1969. 50p., 8.5x11 inch sheets stapled at upper left corner, very good. Also included is a two-page statement excoriating Nixon for starving the poor. Radical report by doctors, religious leaders and activists on hunger in America. "2,000 years ago, Emperor Nero kept the plebs content with a surfeit of bread and circuses. Two weeks ago, President Richard Nixon tried to appease the 25 to 30 million poor, hence hungry or malnourished Americans, with the same diet. There was one difference - he omitted the bread." Another edition of this report was issued as a stand-alone publication rather than as an issue of the Action Report; it was titled "Bread now!

Stiff card, slightly larger than 4x6.25 inches, with Powderly's portrait (a sepia photograph from the negative) on one side and text about Ideal Tooth Powder and Ideal Quinine and Sulphur Toilet Soap on the other. Plate measures 3.5x5 inches; his moustache about 1.3 inches from left to right twirl. Very good. One of a series of photo cards that were sold, or distributed for free with the purchase of Ideal products.

Dead website link for pigeonpress dot org on back wrapper, otherwise publisher unknown. Anti-psychiatry zine based on the author's own life and addiction to prescribed drugs like Ritalin and Prozac. Provides critique of the Icarus Project within the last few pages.

Kiev: Dnipro Publishers, 1990. Hardcover. 254, [9]p., frontis. portrait of Amosoff, very good condition in an unclipped and lightly soiled dj; signed by Amosoff on the title page. Memoir by the Ukrainian heart surgeon and Lenin prize winner who designed several artificial heart valves. He was elected a people's deputy to the USSR Supreme Soviet in 1989.
