Twenty years of German history in photos, from the first World War to revolutionary ferment, inflation, and the rise of the recently elected Nazi government.

Bonn: Berto-Verlag GMBH, 1961. 350p., lengthy b&w photoportraits section, errata leaf, rear pocket with enclosures: two folded maps, one in color, a document in facsimile and an extensive chronology. Later printing 9.5x6.5 inch decorated wraps, slight edgewear, a very good copy. The failed assassination of Hitler, and trial of the officer plotters.

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1940. Four-panel brochure, 6x9 inches, vertically creased, rear wrap unevenly toned else good condition. Advertising brochure for Henderson's book on his time as ambassador to Germany. Henderson was pro-appeasement and wrote sympathetically of the Nazi officials he met.

Hawthorne, NJ: Citation Books, 1976. Paperback. 245p., 4.25x7 inches; wrappers somewhat foxed and toned, minor soil on text block edge, else in very good condition. Originally issued with an instruction sheet, our copy does not have it. Science fiction by a noted magician and writer on magic.

Bloomington: AuthorHouse, 2012. Paperback. 222p. paperback, very good condition. Illustrated profusely with black and white photographs and charts. Signed by the author on the half-title. Book focuses on the Nazi concentration camps, and the Japanese American internment camps. Also notes the role that Nikkei soldiers played in the liberation of Dachau.

Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1962. Hardcover. 304p., very good reprint of the 1946 Random House edition in blue cloth boards and unclipped, lightly-worn dj. An entertainment written by Dinesen during the German Occupation and first published pseudonymously in the 1940s.

n.p., 1948. Broadside. 17.5x11.25 inch broadside, vertically fold-creased so that English appears on one side, German on the other. Bottom of the fold has a chip, no text loss but four letters are ready to come loose if not handled carefully. Not found in OCLC. Tiny letters at bottom state "Printed in USA - A.S. / Written by Fr. W." Undated, but original recipient penciled "Rec'd Oct. 1948" at bottom edge, also penciling "Native Fascist" at upper left corner. "With World War II the great game of world politics has by no means come to an end - more than ever do we have to play for the highest stakes..." Goes on to warn about the rise of "Asiatic" power (led by the USSR), calls on German-Americans to demand a united Germany with "lebensraum" to "again become the only possible barrier of our White World against Asia!

Toulouse: Imprimerie Regionale, 1940. Pamphlet. 36p., staplebound pamphlet in 6.5x5 inch plain printed wraps. Somewhat handled and staple is rusted, front wrap lightly foxed, no markings within, a good(-only) copy. Text in French. Fireside chats?

Munich: F. Bruckmann, 1958. Hardcover. 143p., cloth-covered boards with gilt titling, profusely illus., very good condition in an unclipped and edgeworn dj with a large dampstain along the bottom edge of the rear panel. Text in English, German, and Spanish. Ertl was a German photographer who worked as a war correspondent and propagandist for the Nazis and was director of photography on Leni Riefenstahl's film Olympia. After the war he was banned from working in Germany and moved to Bolivia. His daughter, Monika joined the left wing guerrilla movement ELN and assassinated Toto Quintanilla, the man who cut off Che Guevera's hands after his capture.

Pisa [Italy]: Amministrazione Provinciale di Pisa, 1972. Pamphlet. 32 pp., illustrations, wraps. 9.5 x 6.75 in. Covers foxed, creased, and worn. A tear about 1.75 inch long from the bottom edge of the rear cover (not affecting any content). An account of massacres perpetrated by fascists in Italy, including Nazi military, in the Italian city of Pisa. Published by the city government, the booklet includes reproductions of printed broadsides from the 1940s, portraits of some of the people executed, and lists of names of people killed in 16 different massacres during 1944 (the youngest named victim aged 12). With a brief history of the beginnings of fascist organizing in Pisa. The booklet focuses on the violence of fascists against labor unions.

Wein: Bundesministerium fur Inneres, 1995. 47p., faithful color reproductions on glossy alkaline paperstock, texts in German and English equally; softbound in 8x8.5 inch pictorial wraps. A little edgeworn with light cover corner creasing that (light or not) affects every leaf. Clean and sound within, a good to very good copy. Find a photoportrait of Friedl; most of the images reproduced here are of striped prison garb, with color-coded patches, wear, how displayed. Co-produced by Roger Berlind, Franklin R. Levy & Gregory Harrison et al at the 99 seat Waiver Theatre in West Hollywood. An appearance by Viggo Mortensen early in his career. Set design by Oscar winner Barbara Ling who designed "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Berlin: Ultrapress, 1941. Newsletter. Ninety-five issues of the 8.25x11.75 inch newsletter on yellow onionskin paper stapled together at upper left corner. Some issues have a small square of brown paper tape at the staple for reinforcement. Fold-creased, pages somewhat crinkled. Issues present are Vol. 4 nos. 41, 43-51; Vol 5, Nos. 1-52; Vol 6, Nos. 1-10, 12, 19-23, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39-43 (two numbered 43), 45-48, 50; and Vol 7, No. 1, 5, and 11. Nazi propaganda weekly aimed at convincing English-speaking audiences of Germany's noble aims and reporting on alleged improvements in occupied territories (such as falling unemployment in France). Vol. 4 no. 48 notes with satisfaction the worldwide rise of anti-Semitism, observing that even those countries claiming sympathy for the Jews do little to actually help them. Several issues from 1939 discuss the cooperation between the USSR and Germany after the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

Warsaw, Poland: Ksiazka-I-Wiedza, 1947. Hardcover. 237p., sewn signatures in 8x6 inch black cloth boards spine- and cover-titled in blind. Titlepage bears publisher's imprint per a rubber-stamp which was applied carelessly (quite crooked). No ownership or other markings, a clean sound copy in a heavily chipped dj.
