Beughem's most substantial single compilation, "in which he continued his attempt at a classified universal bibliography of works published since 1650. This time Beughem reached nearly 800 pages, in which he describes the works of nearly 2,500 writers. Octavo, 2.7 x 4.25 in. Second edition, A-N8. This book is in modern binding made from blind-stamped pigskin of a sixteenth century book over modern boards. Les Petites misères de la guerre, engraved frontispiece and 6 engraved plates, wide margins, browning and occasional offsetting, nineteenth century crimson straight-grain Morocco gilt, some light wear [Lieure 1333-1338; Meaume 557-563], oblong 12mo (129 x 170mm.), Paris, Israel Henriet, 1636.
Jacques Callot (French; c. 1592 – 1635) was a baroque printmaker and draftsman from the Duchy of Lorraine (an independent state on the north-eastern border of France, southwestern border of Germany and overlapping the southern Netherlands). He is an important person in the development of the old master print. He also etched many religious and military images, and many prints featured extensive landscapes in their background.
