This copy INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the late President on the page with the publisher's logo preceding the title page: "To --- - With Very/Best Wishes,/Ronald Reagan/March 8 - 1991." Books genuinely signed by this popular President have become quite scarce and usually turn up with a signed bookplate rather than actually signed in the book, as the case here. Last we heard, the Reagan Presidential Library was still selling copies, though reprints, with a signed bookplate for $4,000. One should also be aware that the market has been flooded with fake Reagan signatures in books sold on where "signed" often means forged.

Tipped to the rear pastedown is a printed slip from the publisher intended for reviewers and periodicals asking that they mention Macmillan as the publishers and giving the price of the book.

New York: Simon & Schuster, (2007). First Edition. Hardcover. Fine in a Fine dustwrapper. The story of Carter's post-presidency, the most admired and productive in the nation's history. INSCRIBED and SIGNED in full on a Carter Center bookplate pasted to the front endpaper: "Best wishes to/---/Jimmy Carter." Laid in is a letter from the Carter Center presenting the book to the recipient in recognition of her support.

The dustwrapper is bright and attractive free from any major defect but for a large chip at the head of the spine, extending to 1-3/4" at its deepest and obliterating nearly all of the title. Near Fine in a Very Good dustwrapper. Autobiography and first book by one of our greatest songwriters, author of this country's unofficial national anthem, "This Land Is Your Land." This title, quite scarce in the first edition, especially in dustwrapper, served as the basis for the Hal Ashby film starring David Carradine. Bob Dylan, in his autobiography CHRONICLES, recounts reading BOUND FOR GLORY for the first time: "I went through it from cover to cover like a hurricane, totally focused on every word, and the book sang out to me like the radio.... BOUND FOR GLORY is a hell of a book. It's huge. Almost too big."
