HOLOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT Poem in Swinburne's hand of 25 lines titled "After Sunset" on two sides of a 5-3/8" x 11-3/4" sheet of plain paper. The poem is identical to the version published in Swinburne's collection TRISTRAM OF LYONESSE AND OTHER POEMS, but for one word which is crossed out with the published version above it and the omission here of the last three lines of the poem.

String-tied pamphlet in publisher's blue wraps (5-3/8" x 8-1/2"); 41, [3] pages. Tennyson's second published work, presented in company with the other Chancellor's prize-winners of the year, and the first to appear under his own name. Tennyson was too shy to read his prize-winning poem in blank verse aloud in the Senate House and asked Charles Merivale to undertake the reading of his work as well as Merivale's own Latin poem, also published here. William Harris Arnold's copy, with his small bookplate on the inside of the front wrapper. Uncommon in original wrappers.
