Hollywood, 1934. Original Signed Photograph . Photograph. Two very rare inscribed photographs of the African American actress Fredi Washington. The first portrait is a sepia toned publicity portrait of the beautiful actress that was used as publicity for her most famous role in the 1934 version of "Imitation Of Life" in which she played the light skin daughter of Lousie Beavers. The photo is printed on heavy stock paper and is inscribed and signed in ink "To Millie & Sammy we've kown each other since "when" may it never be "Why" Fredi. The photo has been trimmed and there is a touch of a nick to the bottom edge, luckily the inscription and signature has not been harmed. The second photo is small 5" x 7" close-up portait of her from the 1940's which has been inscribed and signed in ink with her full name. New York: Apeda, 1920. Original Photographs . Paper. 2 very nice original 8" x 10" photograph portraits of the silent screen comedian Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle who is most remembered today for the murder trial that ruined his life and career even though after 3 trials he was acquitted of all charges. Arbuckle was a major star only second in popularity to Chaplin, but after the scandal he was finished in movies. In the early 30's he started to make films again but his bad luck continued with him dying at the early age of 1946 in 1933. The first portrait is a close-up of him taken by the famous photo studio Apeda which I would date around 1920. The photo has wear: some creasing, chipping and a few old tape mends to the verso. The 2nd portrait printed on heavy stock paper is a full length one of Arbuckle doing a soft shoe with his bowler hat balanced on his extended arm. Hollywood: Warner Books, 1935. Reprint Stills . Stills. 2 publicity stills that appear to be early reprint stills. One pictures the starlet Mary Dees in a revealing pose, she is bare brested with her arm covering them up for Footlight Parade and one from Gold Diggers of 1935 which features 3 showgirls set against a painted broadway background. Busby Berkeley directed and did the musical numbers for Gold Diggers and did the musical numbers for Footlight Parade. Stills are trmmed but both are in fine condition. Sold as a collection only.

Hollywood: 20th Century Fox, 1977. Original Stills . Paper. A nice collection of four original 8" x 10" stills from Robert Altman's Bergman influenced film about two young women who have big time personality problems and what happens when one becomes the other. A complex and complicated character study that featured wonderful performances from Sissy Spacek and Shelley Duvall at the top of their game and at the beginning of their impressive careers. Duvall appeared in an amazing 7 films for Altman including Nashville, Popeye, McCabe And Mrs. Miller and Thieves Like Us. Finally this year, the under impressive Oscars reconized Altman for his remarkable and varied film career. Each still features both actresses in scenes and posed portraits. A beautiful collection.

Hollywood: United Artists, 1937. 1st American Edition . Paper. Beautiful 8"x 10" vertical color tinted portrait of Gary Cooper & Sigrid Gurie in The Adventures Of Marco Polo. Minute tiny mend to the white margin. Very average light wear. Color tinted stills are scarce, and this one is a real beauty. Vg.

Hollywood: 20th Century Fox, 1950. Original Still . Paper. Original 8" x 10" scene photo still from the great American comedy "All About Eve." Scene is between Anne Baxter and Celeste Holme where Baxter threatens Celeste to tell Margo that it was her who helped her dupe Margo in missing a performance so she could go on in her place. . The film received a record number of Oscar nominations, winning several including Picture. Original studio Caption taped on verso. Nice souvenir of one of best loved films of the 1950's. Vg.

Hollywood: Warner Brothers, 1942. Original Stills . Paper. A very nice collection of eight mostly original stills and portraits of the wonderful 30's and 40's movie star Ann Sheridan. Sheridan began her film career in the early 30's playing in mostly B movies but by the late 30's had started to be seen in some top notch films mostly for Warner Bros. Her best performance was in 1942 when she appeared in Kings Row opposite the future president Ronald Reagan. Sadly the actress passed away from cancer at the early age of 52. The collection includes a 1) nice original posed publicity portrait of her on skis from "Winter Carnival" 1939. 2) a posed original publicity portrait of her and Jack Benny from the popular 1942 film "George Washington Slept Here." 3) an original scene still of her and Errol Flynn from "Edge Of Darkness" 4) an original beautiful tinted glamour portrait of her that was a give away for Auto-lite Spark Plugs with a facsimile of her… Read More

Hollywood: None, 1945. Original Still . Still. Beautiful original still of Katharine Hepburn from the 1930's. On the verso is several date stamps from 1945 which leads me to believe that it was used that year maybe in a newspaper or movie magazine. Fine.

Hollywood: Metro Goldwyn, 1928. Original Photograph . Still. Superb original publicity portrait of an unknown Hollywood starlet. who is showing a lot of leg in a mesh like scanty costume.The code on the front signifies that it is from Metro Goldwyn and the veso has some various rubber stamps that are from Berlin. One stamp says "Original Foto Leih Weise. Someone has written in pencil Sally Starr? but I can not say that this is indeed the forgetten starlet. In any case this is a wonderful posed portrait. Fine.

Original scene still of a bare chested rod taylor as John Cassidy who was based on the Irish playwright Sean O' Casey fllirting with his landlady played by Pauline Delaney. The film had uncredited direction by John Ford and a stellar cast including Julie Christie and Maggie Smith. Fine.

American Release, 1949. Paper. vg. Coll. of 5 re-issue still photographs from the Am. release of DeSica's Neo-Realist masterpiece. Even the stills are moving. Nice. Binding is stills.

Hollywood: Metro Goldwyn Mayer, 1929. Original Still . Paper. Superb original and rare scene still for the second film to win an Oscar for Best Picture and the first all talking picture to do so. The film is the classic tale of two sisters working in vaudeville who fall in love with the same song and dance man. The film starred Bessie Love who was terrific in it and received an Oscar nomination for best actress losing out to the well placed Mary Pickford and Anita Page. The still is of one of the elaborate (for its time) musical numbers of girl chorus and the two female stars whose faces are faint. Set against an amazning ornate floral backdrop. Small rubber stamp caption on verso and tiny corner chip to left white margin. Beautiful and fine.

Hollywood: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1929. Original Photograph . Still. Rare original still of a production number from the 2nd film to win a best picture Oscar. Pictured are the two female stars Bessie Love and Anita Paige who play sisters. The still features them surrounded by a chorus of girls in a production number. There are no identiying marks on the front or back of the still, but various sources have id the still as being from "The Broadway Melody" and I have matched the costumes in several publicity stills and artwork. The white borders have some minor chipping but the image itself is fine.
