Winston, Philadelphia; Stanley Paul, London; Universal Book and Bible House, Philadelphia) under several slightly varying titles. This salesman's dummy contains the frontispiece, the foreword by Major General A.W. Greely, table of contents, list of illustrations, samples of the text and illustrations (primarily photographs), and the subscription forms. The silver and black printing on the back cover is presumably the sample of the proposed spine title, the spine of the salesman's dummy not being wide enough to accomodate it. Includes a tipped in list of changed street names. Contains advertisements for hotels, banks, restaurants, and other businesses of interest to the traveller. In Very Good- Condition: loss of paper at both ends of spine; cover is lightly soiled and creased; pages are browning but clean and tight.

Former owner's bookplate on front fixed endpaper of "Hans M. Sylvester, M.D." The author, Edwin Erich Dwinger (1898-1981), was one of the most popular authors in Nazi Germany. He published many works of fiction and nonfiction with a right-wing nationalist perspective and was a member of the Reich Culture Senate. This depiction of life on a German farm in the Allgäu region in southern Germany is heavily illustrated with black-and-white photographs. In Very Good- Condition: spine is faded; starting to separate at head of back joint; ends of spine starting to fray; p. 44-45 lightly soiled in margins; otherwise, clean and tight.
