This helpful guide was written before the Norwegian shipping lines were combined to provide mail and freight service to coastal villages, as well as a fine voyage up the western coast from Bergen to Kirkenes on the Russian border. Although the ships have become larger and more comfortable, this is a delightful guide of what was seen in the 1950s, some 70 years ago, and how the scenery remains unchanged. Pages 64. Very good hardback with printed cover with a seagull, and very good dustjacket, having some edgewear, protected in a clear, mylar sleeve. I recommend taking it along on your next Hurtigruten voyage. Very Good. 3/4 Leather. 1st Edition. Atlas Folio - over 23 - 25" tall. A magnificent record of Trondheim Cathedral, now called Nidaros Cathedral , begun in 1070 and the most important Cathedral in Scandinavia. Munch was a prolific historian of Norway, but this book is not listed among his works on Wikipedia. It is an elephant folio, 23 inches (59 cm) tall in the original cloth with a gilt emblem - Trondheim Domkirke - on the front board. New, dark brown goatskin spine and corners. A bit of foxing on some plates. Forty eight pages of test in two columns, one Norwegian and one English. Scarce, with no other copies on the internet at this writing. .

New York: MacMillan, 1924. Book. Illus. by Boris Artzybasheff 12 Full Page Plates, One in Color, Plus Chapter Headings. Near Fine. Decorative Cloth. First U.S.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. This book is sought after for the delightfdul Artzybasheff illustrations, the frontispiece in color. It is a tale of Norway, in a decorated blue cloth binding with dragons, and birds and gargoyles on the front. Some edgewear. Clean and tight inside. Reindeer endpapers by the illustrator. The author is the intrepid woman traveller (1802-1876) who also wrote a guide to travellers. Pages 301. I found it a delightful read..

Beautiful medium blue calf, with gilt vertical lines and Nansen initials, bright gilt title on the spine. Top edge gilt. Pages 198 (8). The leather is worn some at the corners and spine ends. Inside this is an impecable copy with no foxing or stains, and no prior owner signature or marks. The Norwegians adored their great explorer, and this is a splendid tribute to him..

An intrepid women's travels in the mid 19th Century when travel there was a rugged challenge, originally a paperback in Putnam's Library for Travellers and the Fireside. Newly bound in Red Cloth with a blacck title label on the front and fresh gilt lettering. The binding is fine, with no edge wear. Inside, no prior owner marks. The original paperback cover is bound in. Occasional stains but the paper is not browned. .

Dust jacket is NOT clipped. Brothers Carl and Roy struggle with their roles in theeir Norwegian village, and violence is soon to follow. The Nesbo scrawled signature is on the first page after the endpaper. .

She writes of a dark island where men hunt witches and women fight back. Finnmark, Norway in 1617. Recommended. Beautifully written. This is the American edition, published a year after the U.K..

The publication date is not given; I am guessing based on the autos in the photos and the binding style. Text in Norwegian. Terra cotta calf spine and corners, with a modern, art nouveau series of gilt birds on the spine. Clean and tight inside, no foxing or prior owner marks. Pages 503 with table of contents at the rear. Nicely illustrated, with chapters on Finnmark, Trondheim, Romsdal, etc. No other copies on the internet as of this writing..

Signed by Mary Azarian, who won the Caldecott Award for her wonderful color woodcuts in 1999. She deserves it for this book too, a fine Norwegian tale based on a Saga penned in 1264.
