Name/year (1888) written in pen on front end paper. Affixed to the front pastedown is a portrait of Thaxter, and her signature is pasted on a slip of paper on the opposing end paper. Description:
This is an antique dinner menu for a Fourth of July celebration at the "New Pemigewasset House" in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Nice front cover with a Patriotic color chromolithograph illustration of fireworks and the American Flag. The card is dated July 4, 1913 on the front. Some of the menu items have American flair added to their name...for example - Fillet Mignon "A La Independence," Consomme "Washington," Potage "A La American," Braised Sweetbreads "A La Lincoln," Compote Fresh Fruits "A La Lee," "Roosevelt" Punch, "Washington" Whipped Cream Pie," and Salad "A La Wilson." The menu measures 7" tall x 5" wide when folded.Condition:Light foxing to all four panels of the card, otherwise in Good condition with no tears or writing.
