While McMurtry owned a bookstore in Archer City, he didn't like selling his own books and so for a decade or so he signed limited editions for the other bookstore in town. Three Dog Books took trade first editions, added a limitation stamp, and McMurtry signed them. The books were limited to 75 numbered and 26 lettered copies, except for By Sorrow's River, which had only 50 numbered copies. First editions (first printings of all four books).
