Portland, OR: Aguila Inc, 1977. Poster. Near Fine. A very scarce poster for Cinco de Mayo festivities in Portland, Oregon. While there were some 50,000 Latinos in Oregon in the mid-1970s, artifacts of Latinx cultural events from this time period are uncommon and decorative ones are very scarce. Not much is known about the artists, but they produced posters for Colegio César Chávez, an independent Chicano-themed college in Central Oregon that operated in the 1970s. They variously spelled their names on their posters Marriquez and Manriquez. Colorful screenprint (serigraph): 14-1/4 by 22-1/2 inches. Near fine, with a bit of ink staining from the printing process in one margin. Signed in the plate.

Portland, OR: R. L. Polk & Co, 1905. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. The first issue of an uncommon city directory for a small town south of Portland. It was published to coincide with the Lewis and Clark Exposition. "Comprising an alphabetically arranged list of business firms, private citizens and public institutions; classified list of all trades, professions and pursuits; an alphabetically arranged list of all taxpayers in Linn County; a miscellaneous directory of county and city officers, public and private schools, churches, secret and miscellaneous societies, etc., etc., etc."-title page. 262 pages. The corners are a bit worn, but generally very good or better.

New York: DIA Films, 1970. Very good. An unproduced screenplay about disaffected upperclass youth in New York, seemingly an early collaboration between Trow, a New Yorker writer, and Ivory, part of the James Ivory, Ismail Merchant, and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala trio that formed Merchant Ivory Productions. The screenplay appears to date from the Viet Nam War era and explores some of the themes of Savages (1972), the first Merchant Ivory film based on a Trow script. The script is not dated but the first Merchant Ivory film released by DIA Films was Bombay Talkie, from 1970. No copy of this screenplay is recorded in the James Ivory papers at the University of Oregon. Title leaf plus 92 numbered leaves, printed rectos (front-side) only. Bound in printed vinyl Studio Duplicating Service covers with screw brads. Very good.

Chicago: Wahl Institute, 1944. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. A reference book from one of the leading beer researchers and educators in the first half of the twentieth century. This volume covers barley, malt, malting, malting adjuncts, hops, and technical materials. 623 pages. First edition (first printing). A very good or better copy in thin leatherette boards. No dust jacket, possibly as issued. This copy belonged to William F. Blitz, an executive of the Portland brewery, Blitz-Weinhard.

Brightwood, OR: William H. White, 2009. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine. A commemorative book celebrating the centennial of the Welches, Oregon, post office, in 2005, with additional material about the history of the area around Welches, at the foot of Mount Hood. The book consists of photocopies of article, resolutions, correspondance, and the like, with many copies in color. Some of the pages are decorated with original postage stamps, some cancelled with the official Welches Centennial postmark and one with the Oregon Sesquicentennial postmark (hence dating the book). Approximately 100 leaves. Limited to 15 numbered copies, signed by White with initials. A unique local history publication. First edition. Near fine in faux suede covers which are soft and slightly bowed. Signed by White on the rear pastedown. OCLC records one copy in a local public library.

San Francisco: Watkins' Pacific Coast, 1867. Ephemera. Very good. A stereograph view of the Oregon Steam Navigation pier at The Dalles, a lumber and passenger port about 80 miles east of Portland. Watkins copyrighted this view in 1867. This stereo card is seen on orange (this) and yellow mounts. The yellow mount examples include the date adopted here. The orange cards may have been made at a slightly later date, but prior to the mid-1870s, when Watkins lost possession of his negatives in a financial dispute. Minor wear to the corners; image with medium contrast and minor staining.
