May 1918 issue of the Marinello Messenger. The Marinello Summer School was created to educate working women in such subjects as advertising, salesmanship, and skills essential to all cosmetic professions; here, examples include "Cosmetic Surgery and Skin Diseases", "Facial Treatments", "Hair Waving", "Hair Dyeing", and "Obesity Work" (i.e. weight loss). The issue includes several articles on the above subjects, as well as advertisements for cosmetic products and recent happenings in the school. Patriotism and doing one's part for the war effort appears to be a common theme throughout.
