“Greetings from California” Cards, each with tipped-in illustrations.; The larger, measuring 6” X 7 ˝” has a print of “Lupins and Sand,” Monterey Coast, California, from the oil painting by Bertha Stringer Lee. It was printed by Sunset Publishing House, San Francisco. The smaller card, measuring 5” X 6 Ľ” has “A California Vista,” from the oil painting by C.D. Robinson. This card is from a series of reproductions of California Scenes by California Artists, published by A.M. Robertson Book Store, San Francisco. Tammany Hall, New York City, 1886-1890. An electioneering organization affiliated with Tammany and the county Democrats. It owned a club house and much like a European "party of integration" it implicated itself in the social life of its members: conducting excursions and clambakes, and involving the wives and children of members in its activities".In an effort to counter the threat posed by the United Labor party in 1886 to its position in the prevailing balance of factional politics, Tammany extended throughout the city the type of organization that had proved so successful in the Annexed District. West Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard, MA, [1900]. General wear. Crease folds. Single fold pamphlet advertising a newly built sanitarium called Glencroe, in the small town of West Tisbury located on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. The proprietor, Dr. D. A. Cleaveland, of the sanitarium starts by praising the weather, which apparently in winter is only "five degrees colder than Old Point Comfort, VA", and then continues on to state the numerous diseases which are not a problem for the islands residents. "Diphtheria is unknown in this part of the island. Malignant Scarlatina, typhoid fever, cholera infantum, or any inflammatory intestinal disease, together with phthisis, are rarely met with..." Greenfield, OH: The Cory-Patterson MFG. CO, ca. 1910. Cover shifted slightly. Staple rust.. 30pp. Gray-brown paper cover with stapled binding. Cover has a a decorative illustration of a flower arrangement on a small table, with a border around the outside edges. This marketing pamphlet was made by the Cory & Patterson manufacturing company to promote their product 'The Browder Life-Saving Net'. Invented around 1901, the net consists of a large, circular metal frame with tightly stretched canvas across it. When unfolded, the canvas can catch a falling person and, by attaching the canvas to the hoop with hinges, the weight falls towards the center, protecting those holding the net from the accumulated force. This pamphlet is filled with testimonials from all around the United States, telling stories of the net in action, accompanied by numerous photographs. He believes that taxation should be used in order to truly support public schools, and that it is a priority. Teachers also should be of good quality and educated in the profession in order to make schooling effective. In this address he makes it very clear that he truly believes that a good, solid education for everyone could improve not only the children's future, but the future of the country as a whole. New York: Anglo-French Drug Co., [1930]. wraps. 8 pp. (unnumbered) In the Jan. 1929 issue of JAMA Dr. Leila Charlton Knox summarized her experience to the effect" that colloidal lead may have a decidedly beneficial effect on patients suffering from malignant tumors, and that occasionally ulcerated surfaces will heal without other treatment and with moderate doses". The pamphlet summarizes the research findings at Bristol Royal Infirmary following this report. Additionally it provides information on Untoward Symptoms, Administration and Dosage and How Supplied. It concludes with statements indicating that the Infirmary received no profit for the study; it was done in the interest of humanity. The last page is promotion for the chemotherapeutic agent. Lyon County, KS: Bank of Warsaw, [1885]. General wear. Minor tear at top edge and along letter folds.. A circular advertising the sale of bonds for farmland in Lyon County in Kansas. The circular promoted the desirability of the land by emphasizing how close it was to several important railroads, such as Missouri Pacific R. R. and the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe R. R., as well as the low debt the township itself carried (meaning taxes would be low). The back of the circular provides information on the laws that detail how a bond can be issued and how the state of Kansas ensures the legality of the bonds. Single page, double sided. Measures 10" x 6 1/4". There was around 69,000 acres available in Agnes City Township, which was located 30 miles southwest of Topeka, KS. Each bond was issued with 6 percent interest over 30 years and was financed by the Bank of Warsaw, located in Warsaw, NY.

A striking array of geometric shapes, color and type faces exemplifying the creative and elaborate design process. One die-cut the remainders rectangular. The reverse is blank on all but one card. That narrative is addressed to Manufacturers and promotes their comprehensive and timely services. Colored Sketches to convey an exact idea of Label or Show Card when completed. Each card marked Crump's Label Press. The firm had been founded in 1832 by his father—also Samuel Crump, a wood engraver and printer in Montclair, NJ, an immigrant from Wales. Crump senior retired in 1861. From 1875 to 1878, the firm was Crump & Everdell, subsequently the Crump Label Press. Barcelona: R. Tobella, 1917. There are 8 leaves, 6 leaves of which are on regular paper and feature featuring black and white fashion renderings- women iin and children in current fashion of the time. The last two leaves are printed on heavy card stock and have partially embossed/stamped color woodblock illustrations of 19th century fashion, and on the verso, prices and description of the line. There is also additional product information on the inside wrappers. The outer wrapper has a elaborate yet whimsical color woodblock depiction of a 19th century street scene with several figures walking and three stain glass windows in the background. Deckled edge illustrated wraps and red string binding. The woodblock illustrations are signed by Cesar, while the black and white fashion renderings are signed by another indecipherable individual. [Michigan], c.1863. Fine; some light browning.. A Civil War-era song sheet composed from the point of view of an amputee by V. W. Bruce, Co. A., 17th Michigan Infantry. Sung to tune of "By cool Siloam's shady rill", the lyrics lament the loss of a foot "which proudly tread / The soil of Tennessee" and served its owner well. Printed on wove paper (12" by 4.5") in single column with typographical border. Two copies in OCLC (Jan. 2022).

Philadelphia, PA: Women's Home Missionary Society of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, [1912]. General wear. Crease folds. . The Deaconess Home on Vine Street in Philadelphia was a part of the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Home served a variety of needs within the community, but this pamphlet is specifically for their Modified Milk Station whose goal was to provide "pure, clean milk [as it] is the only safe food for infants". The pamphlet provides information on the types of milk, or rather formula, and the amount an infant needs as it grows from a newborn to a year old. It also provides information on how to feed and care for an infant, placing considerable emphasis on the "absolute cleanliness of bottle, nipple, and above all, of the milk". Toledo, Oh: Electro-Chemical Ring Company, [1897-1900]. General wear. Minor penciling and small stain on front cover. . An 8 page fold-out brochure for Electro-Chemical Ring, which was a device that help against "rheumatism in all its forms". The Electro-Chemical Ring was an actual ring that one wore which supposedly "acts directly on the acid in the blood, [by] supplying electricity in the proper proportion, reducing the intensity and quantity of the acid until there is no surplus", at which point the ring would become like any other ring worn. The ring, which could also be purchased in gold, not only cured rheumatism, but also a variety of other diseases caused by 'acidic' blood, such as: Bright's Disease, bladder stones, diabetes, painful or irregular menstruation, gravel, gall stones, jaundice, neuralgia, and gout. New York , [1875]. A 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" engraved illustrated business card for Brewster & Co. (of Broome St.) Carriage Builders. Fifth Avenue & 14th St. and Broadway & 47th St. New York. The finally detailed engraving depicts five gentlemen and a woman, lap blankets in place trotting along in a fine carriage pulled by four horses. Reverse is blank.

Tiffany & Co. , 1882. 1/2" intact tear on margin at base. 1 1/2" separation at fold.. A single-fold 7 1/4" x 4" invitation printed on the cover only. It is Compliments of the Growlers' for a Twelfth Night Celebration. Printed by Tiffany & Co. Interior blank. This was the first and only ball held by the Growlers. Schindler pg. 145Twelfth Night (actually January 6 - Ephiphany) is the official start of the Carnival season. 

International Milling Company Inc, 1966. etc.. A set of eight retail bake shop layouts provided by the International Milling Company. The set was distributed during a 'Cool Rise' Demonstration of Fleischmann's yeast at the Colorado State University in August 1966. The eight plans come in a folder that depicts an image of a wheat field along with the dates of the demonstration listed at the bottom. The front flap of the folder has also been die cut into the shape of a bread loaf. Each layout within the folder has a layout done in one of four colors: red, green, yellow or blue. Each layout fold out into 5 sections and depicts the floor plan of a shop, and images of all the equipment needed as well as several paragraphs discussing the 'flow of production' in each layout. St. Louis, MO: Commercial Printing Co., 1884-85. Front cover detached. . 20 pp. Illustrated wraps. Image of exterior of St. John's Hospital, Clinical Amphitheater and Main College Building. It begins with Announcements including Hospitals connected with the Missouri Medical College, Hospital Appointments, Clinics and summaries of each of the hospital specialties. Also includes information on Chemical Laboratories, Spring Course and the locations of the College and St. John's Hospital. It concludes with Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine, List of Text-Books, and Fees. Finally, it includes a list of Alumni of the Missouri Medical College from 1841-1884. Two full page illustrations of a clinical amphitheater and the practical chemical laboratory. Measures 10 1/2" x 8".

Philadelphia, PA, [1890]. Age toning and crease marks. . A two-sided handbill promoting the 'Levis' Metallic Splint' which were made from copper and as such much lighter and comfortable than the other options of the day, which were mostly made out of wood. The circular was advertising a set of 21 pieces for $15 and features splints to be used for various finger, arm, or leg injurious. The splints in the set came in both child and adult sized. There are seven illustrated examples of the splints in use. The creator of this splints was Richard J. Levis, a Civil War doctor who was a surgeon at the Pennsylvania Hospital. While the there is no date on the circular, Leach & Greene appear to have been in business at the Tremont Street location in the late 1880 to the early 1890s. Some of the same illustrations found on the circular were also used in a variety of medical supply catalogues around the same time. Single sheet, double-sided, green paper. Measures 9 3/4" x 5 3/4"

Accompanied by various silhouette vignettes. Promotes Peter Paul & Co. Booksellers and Stationers. Imported stationery and printing services. Letter folds and toning.

Sept - Nov 1855. Anna Morey was the daughter of Dr. Thomas Chadborne. She married an American inventor, Charles Morey on February 5, 1849 in Boston. Charles was killed on December 30, 1856 by a guard at Rue de Clichy, a debtor's prison, on the day he was to be released. Tragically Morey was being release because a judge had found that he had been arrest illegally. . A collection of 6 illustrated letters with 24 pages written by Anna Morey while she and her husband traveled through Germany and towards Paris on their grand European Tour. Anna is clearly writing to a young boy, and most likely a family member (nephew or young cousin) she often makes reference to her parents (his grandparents). Anna and her husband Charles tour through the Germany countryside, mostly alongside the Rhine on a carriage. Some of the towns mentioned in the letters are: Godesbert, Unkel, Goppingen, Ahrweiler, Lochmuhle, Neuwied, Brussels, Cologne, Brun, Koblenz, and Salzig.
