Description:
Farmington, NH, 1856 - 1864. A copy book used to by Jonathan D. Roberts to keep an accounting of his guardianship of Timothy Stevens from 1856 - 1864. On the first page is a note that states Roberts was appointed Stevens guardian on February 5, 1856 and that this fact was advertised in the Dover Gazette on the first Tuesday in February. Next is an inventory of the Estate of Timonth Stevens valued at $1,011.37. What follows is a list of expenses incurred by Roberts, such as the cost of board, travel to the probate court, the cost of his services and a list of different bills paid out. The front cover has an engraving of a monument that states "To Washington". The back cover has a multiplication table on it as well as the note "Always for sale, a general assortment of Blank, School, and Miscellaneous Books..." There is no mention of a publisher. No OCLC, Feb 2019. Yellow covers, 16 pages. Completely filled. Measures 8" x 6 1/2"

The hand written parchment sheet with rules and regulations of a Juvenile Society in Scarborough, England. The manuscripts contains six rules for the Society, such as when and where they will meet, voting in a president, voting on topics of discussion, new members or rules, member dues and possible fines imposed, At the base, the page is signed by all the current member, twelve men. While the rules and regulations to not state the ways in which they hope the society will benefit youth, it is most likely that this interest in child welfare coincided with whatever religious institution they attended. The top of the manuscript has decorative elements to used to embellish the title. Measures 29 3/4" x 9"

The Deaconess Home on Vine Street in Philadelphia was a part of the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Home served a variety of needs within the community, but this pamphlet is specifically for their Modified Milk Station whose goal was to provide "pure, clean milk [as it] is the only safe food for infants". The pamphlet provides information on the types of milk, or rather formula, and the amount an infant needs as it grows from a newborn to a year old. It also provides information on how to feed and care for an infant, placing considerable emphasis on the "absolute cleanliness of bottle, nipple, and above all, of the milk".
