Fair to Poor w inch chip at top of spine, worn corners and fore-edge, pencil dwgs & writing on endpapers, hinge broken at pp 264-265, occasional light foxing -- but interior pages all present & clean.. Containing Elegant Extracts in Prose and Poetry, with Copious Rules and Rhtorical Exercises. A good reading copy, or just to own a well-used but honest artifact of American education from 150 years ago. 4-3/4 x 7-1/4, 480 pp.

London: Printed for J. Buckland, 1782. Hardcover in marbled leather boards with spine printed in red and gilt.. Very clean intact copy. Foxing spots on title page only, all 14 engravings (none missing) are Very Good with offsetting to adjacent papes. Cover is cleanly detached, spine cracked and loose at pp 50-51, bumped corners, spine chipped at top & bottom. Overall, a nice unmarked copy with clean boards, bright legible spine (tho cracked), and excellent engravings including 4 by Stothard/William Blake, others by Bertolozzi, Hall, Heath, Taylor, Watts, Page, Godfrey, Heath, Woolette. 341 pp on laid paper, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, 14 b/w engravings.

Oversize Hardcover in maroon cloth boards w gilt titling, embossed designs on front & back boards, all edges marbled.. Very Good overall, unmarked, in Good boards w light wear to spine ends, faded titling, spotted front board; binding is tight. . Wonderful antique atlas w fascinating statistical illustrations & charts, biographical section with portraits & signatures of signers of Declaration of Independence & US Presidents, description of each state, b/w engravings of various city views, plus 160 pages of outstanding color maps of the world in 1891, all in clean crisp condition. Text portions are in German language (old German text) but all maps are in English. Rare and fascinating offering. 11-1/4 x 14-1/4, 331 pp, place index, color maps, b/w illus, decorated endpapers.

Very nice, bright, unrubbed, unmarked copy with hardly any wear. Copyright page says Published October 1903. Line 13, pg 327 says bricks, glowing in the October sun. Unusually good copy of this classic.
