Small hardcover in stippled brown leather boards w gilt border design; spine nicely re-covered in decorative violet/gold tape. Good Plus, worn corners, rubbed boards, light foxing to frontispiece of each volume. Contents tight & clean, no writing or marks, overall excellent condition for its age. Both of poor Dr Dodd*s classics are here printed between one set of covers, illustrated with seven steel-cut engravings on heavier paper stock, designed by R. Corbould and engraved by W. Hawkins and C. Warren, plus portrait frontispiece engraved by Ridley. Dodd, a respected minister, was executed in 1777 for forgery. A rare item in good condition. 3-3/4 x 6, 1st volume is 135 pp + 4 pp index, 2nd volume is 125 pp, color-marbled endpapers, full-page steel engravings plus misc small b/w embellisnments
