Toronto: Copp Clark, 1888. Orangey-brown boards with black impressed titles and decoration are in very good condition, showing light to moderate rubbing, bumping and shelfwear especially at top and bottom of spine. The top edge shows light stains as from moisture, the bottom edge has one darker stain, none of the stains penetrates to the text block. Both front and rear hinges are weakened, having splits in the endpapers, although the webbing still holds the boards. Most of the front free endpaper has been removed. The interior is tight and unmarked, except in a few of the later chapters there are underlinings and annotations in pencil. There is also a penciled sentence on the rear free endpaper.
