Former owner's address label top of ffep. Presentation (to no specific person) by the "editor," Jerome Peltier, who provided Notes and Bibliography. Peltier was the owner of Clark's Old Book Store in Spokane for many years and collected all sorts of original frontier material by writing to the authors, when possible, acquiring original manuscripts, etc. A scarce signature to get for this book and of course you're not going to get the original author. Fine in good dj which has edge tears and some tape residue.

Nampa: Private Correspondence, 1946. Soft cover. Very Good. Historian Bird of Nampa, Idaho, over a period of many years corresponded with rare book dealer Jerome Peltier of Clarks Old Book Store in Spokane. In this clutch of letters and cards, 23 in all, depending on what you count, but a minimum, Bird tries to answer questions from Peltier. While much of the content is personal (she talks about school teaching - was a high school teacher of history-her cats, a few trips, and even teaching Sunday School) the content discussed some figures of Pacific Northwest History Bird was researching, particularly William Wallace, who was governor of both Idaho and Washington Territories. Bird is trying to add to the data she is compiling, but often comes up on dead ends. A published articles is included, in duplicate, sent at two different times. Presentation copy signed by d'Easum to his illustrator, Paul B. Evans, who also did the dust jacket. Evans has also signed the copy & added a comment affirming himself as the illustrator. Furthermore, a half sheet TLS is partially affixed to the half-title from d'Easum to Evans thanking him for his work, expressing desire for further collaboration, & also thanking him for the original sketches. Finally, there is a laid in note on some illustrations, written by Mary d'Easum 6/13/95. News clippings in envelope laid in. The book is a compilation of essays that appeared in The Idaho Sunday Statesman about Idaho villains. A bit of glue residue from TLS on verso. A later owner's embossment is on dedication page. Else fine in dj worn & slightly chipped along top edges. Not in 6-guns.
