First published in 1904, this is the autobiography of a successful businessman & trader out of Colorado, Nebraska, & Wyoming. He was appointed by Pres. Grant to operate the Ft. Laramie trading post in 1872 & did so for ten years. Fine.

Salisbury, CT: Lime Rock Press, 1981. Limited/Numbered. Hardcover. Fine. Copy #6 of 100 copies. Folio cloth with ribbon-tied portfolio of 21 historical facsimiles and a set of 4 original photos by Seymour & signed by Seymour on the back. The latter are nicely matted & gathered in a printed and folded open sleeve. Seymour has signed the accompanying 89pp book of the title, and also the limitation sheet affixed to the inside of the clamshell box into which the three items (book, facsimiles, & photos) are set. The large clamshell box, which has an outside title label, is only slightly rubbed at the corners. This gathering honors Medicine Bow, Wyoming, which was the setting for Wister's classic Western, The Virginian.

Privately Printed, Powell, 1910, 1910. First Edition. Soft cover. Good. 4to gilt-lettered, stapled black wrappers. Unpag (36pp). Illustrated with b/w half-tone photos. Three page introduction. In good condition even with the following caveats: The middle sheet of (4)pp is separated from the staples. We have elected not to tip it in with glue. Along the left margin of the front cover, & about an inch in, is some white residue from some paper that was apparently glued to the cover. Rare.

Saul Brothers, Chicago, 1918, 1918. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo gilt-stamped cloth. 156pp. Color Frontispiece & a couple of illustrations. Inscribed by Hooker to William W. Seymour, Mayor of Tacoma, Washington ca 1914. The presentation was at the request of Seymour's brother & Hooker's friend, Edmund Seymour, who wrote a full page inscription to William, "This is our old stamping ground when we were on the plains." He goes on to describe Hooker, a frontiersman in Wyoming. Also, 1/4 affixed on the rear paste down is a folded one-sheet typed letter (carbon copy) to Hooker from an even more noted frontiersman, JOHN HUNTON, dated Fort Laramie, October 7, 1920. It is not signed, but includes some fine reflections on the old days, "I have not seen a yoke of oxen for ten years. Last winter while coal was scarce and weather was cold I cut up the last of my big bull wagons and burnt them, as they were useless." A fine triple association copy of a scarce & desirable book. Inside title page reads in part: "Season of 1892 - A Grand Tour Through The Yellowstone National Park With a Complete Round of all the Points of Interest to that Land of Marvels," etc. "and also to Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Niagara Falls, Etc..." Departs New York Sept. 5 & returns Sept. 17. The tour company was located at Union Square. The information is extensive. Near fine. Lower spine & adjacent area with older tape wrapped around. Rare item.
