The book by Jeannette-Stratton Porter (1887-1977) was first published in 1929 and continues the story of 'Freckles', the novel written by her mother Gene Stratton-Porter in 1904. Lord Terence Maxwell O'More was being groomed as a gentleman among the Irish aristocracy but longed to be with his childhood sweetheart in far off Indiana where he was known as just 'Freckles'.
