Hardcover edition, published by The Companion Book Club, 1961. From the author of 'The Citadel', this is the story of how a small newspaper in Northern England resists the takeover attempt of a large London publishing house. Small format hardcover with the distinctive geometric design on the dust jacket that Companion Book Club often used on their covers. Light gray cloth covered boards with the author name and title on a red field on the spine. Some areas of fading to the boards, but very little edge wear. Corners are not bumped. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Not a library discard. The dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover, so there is very little wear to the jacket.
