St Louis, MO.: Historical Publishing Company, 1881 bound in red brown covers with gilt titles, 148 pp. including plates. Howes B933. This copy with spine fade and a scuff to front cover and wear to tips. What makes this copy stand out is how nice, clean and bright is the interior. All pages and especially the color plates are clean and crisp and stand out. The interior is truly overall fine.

Blue Ribbon Books Bound in dark blue cloth with orange titles, 347pp. top edge stained orange, "Dedicated with some hesitation and infinite deference to various uncontrollable ladies". Besides the exceptional condition of this book what separates it is an old newspaper clipping tipped to the front end paper. It is some reminiscences of an old west barber who had an experience with Jane's famous temper and still had a scar on his head in 1938 to prove it. The barber, Johnny Mills was working in Laramie Wyoming when Jane came in for a shampoo. While she was bent over with her head in a basin a customer walked by and slapped her behind. Jane, known for her temper, stood up, grabbed a pitcher and, thinking the barber had done it threw the pitcher and hit poor Mills in the head.

Miller, Orton & Mulligan, 1854 Bound in faded green blind stamped cloth with gilt titles, 390 pp. plus 2 pp ads. Contents mostly unread. Quite light foxing to the endsheets, heavier to the frontis, tissue guard and title page. Quite rare to text.Pencil ownership name, spine gilt tiles faded.Still much better than usually found.

Scribner's, 1915 Bound in mustard colored cloth with gilt decorations, 431 pp., "published October, 1915", true first edition. Nice copy with minor bumps to the covers, offsetting inside front covers touching the facing side of the endpapers. No names, inscriptions, marks, etc. Howes G433

Edgewood, 1891 Bound in green cloth with gilt decorations, 545 pp. This copy is complete, a good reading copy. Covers are worn and hinges cracked but holding, pencil on the end papers and on top of the title page and occasional finger soil. A used, complete copy which can serve as a good reader.

lippincott, 1913 Bound in red wove cloth with gilt titles, ex-school library, 309 pp. Text is mostly unread, but with a few leaves with a mildly bumped top corner. First edition, "Published September, 1913".

San Francisco: A L Bancroft & Co, 1884 Bound in green cloth with gilt titles, 415pp plus 24pp ads, 19 illustrations plus map made especially for this edition. Howes H133 Folding map is detached but present and in nice shape [tiny holes at one fold]. There is wear at the tips. Ads at back would be of great interest to a lover of Arizona history as they are for newspapers, stage lines, hotels, a lumber yard and livery stable. What may be of interest is a list of women written in light faded pencil on the rear end paper: Mrs De Horry, Mrs Vand, Misses Keller, Loftus, Cash, Gattur, La Hur, Mordy Renaldo, Harrod, Wells. Also Sallie, Grandma Clark, Little Ulla Lee Redman, and Ella McCune.

Charles L Webster, 1893 Sharp early printing bound in light brown buckram with brown titles, 403 pp plus 9 pp ads. Mildly ex-lib with number on spine, one on title page and inside rear cover, a touch of a damp stain on spine and rear cover. Contents are fine. [Given the way it is numbered I believe this is from a personal library rather than a public one.]
