London: Temple Press, 1909. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG +/No Jacket . 20hx13w. Surprisingly bright front cover, especially considering the age of the book. The right hand side of the rear cover has acquired a bit more ingrained dirt, but still looks pretty bright. The spine, on the other hand, has a uniform and nondescript ""patina of age"". There is very mild bumping to the bottom right hand corner of the cover, and a hint only of fraying to the top and bottom of the spine and to the top right hand side of the front board. Internally the binding is sound and tight. The top few millimetres of the first 2-3 pages have previously been folded over. The front and rear end papers have browned considerably with age. There is a hint only of waterstaining at the top of approximately 10 pages.The contents of the book are otherwise clean and crisp, rating VG+ to Fine. This is an extraordinarily evocative little book both in style and content. Estd. packed weight: 0.45kg.

Presumed Ex Lib (perhaps private library) as there are the remnants of a label which had been affixed below the author's name on the spine. However, there are no stamps or library labels within the book. There is paper surface loss on the inside of the rear board, which suggests that a paste-down may have been removed from there. There is foxing on the inside of the front board, on the fep through to the title page, and foxing on the last two (empty) pages in the book. There are some ink spots on the inside of the front board and on the opposing fep. The contents of the book are clean, bright and undamaged. The book cover is in sound condition and the binding is tight and intact. The original colour has faded on the spine and around the edges of the boards.
