First blank has a gift inscription from a member of the Ranedda family whose crest is included in the volume. Text is clean and unmarked. Last blank and prior two leaves have some humidity rippling but no other signs of that. Priced low to reflect this small defect. Scarce, with a nice provenance. Inscribed on the half title, "roma 15 Oct 1911, a Gino Bandini, in memore affetto, Emilio Piovanelli" Very good chance that is journalist, mason and Junior Mayor of Rome, Gino Bandini (1881-1948). Handsome dark green cloth with gilt ruling with gilt leaves inside the borders, spine has gilt ruling as well. Red polished page edges. Only a few signs of wear on the covers, bit of rubbing to spine tips. Interior floral endpapers, front endpaper has a small book plate "Bandini", else clean and unmarked. Dark purple wraps with illustration of people in rubble has minor normal shelf wear. Half title has the top corner cut off, otherwise clean and unmarked. Hard to find. Entirely in Italian. Giuseppe Giannuzzi (1841-1915) wrote the "De Siciliae et Calabriae Excidio Carmen" on the occasion of the earthquake, which devastated the cities of Reggio Calabria and Messina in 1908. With this poem the priest of Acquarica del Capo (LE) participated in the "Certamen poeticum Hoeufftianum" of 1919 in Amsterdam and was judged worthy of great praise, ranking second behind Pascoli, who obtained the gold medal with the composition Pomponia Graecina; Testi E Studi Di Letteratura Antica; Vol. 10; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 153 pages .

The first section of the book, up to page155, is Denis the Carthusian (Denis le Chartreux) treatise on the Christian life in the church. The second is the discourse on "the advantage of psalmody" or "De psalmodii bono" which had for many years been attributed, as here, to Saint Nicetius of Trier (513-566) , but which has lately been reattributed to Saint Nicetas of Remesiana (335-414). There are very few recorded copies of this book -- Worldcat has only 2, one in California, one in Lyons (OCLC58887969) and there are no sales or auction records for the book, at all. It is in fairly good antiquarian condition.
