Only a few signs of wear on the covers, bit of rubbing to spine tips. Interior floral endpapers, front endpaper has a small book plate "Bandini", else clean and unmarked. Including catalogue of Crompton family portraits at Hagley Hall, the seat of Viscount Cobham. A very pretty little book with smooth calf spine and corners outlined with gold ruling, gold title to fc. Spine has 5 raised bands outlined in gilt with two red labels. Both boards are detached as is typical with this era binding. Corners of the boards are a little scuffed, but otherwise very nice. Interior has just a bit of foxing, otherwise crisp and clean. A very attractive copy of this hard to find little book. ; 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall; 106 pages .

Original dark blue cloth covers with brilliant gilt sailing ship to front cover. Covers are worn and faded, back strip coming away, parts of spine gone, spine tips worn, old mercantile library sticker to front cover and spine, back board bumped at edge. Interior is clean and unmarked, some corners dogged, foxing throughout, plates all present and nice, some plates have some foxing moving into the plate. Old and a bit fragile, but still readable and fascinating on the interior with wonderful tinted plates. An account of the rather remarkable author's hunting trip to Albania. A shooting cruise off the coast of Albania. Despite being born with only the rudiments of arms and legs Kavanagh triumphed over his physical defects and was an expert shooter and angler and an experienced yachtsman.; 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall .

Covers are detaching, first fly page (advert) is chipped and worn, some light staining and wear throughout. Standard library marks. However, book block is sturdy, all text maps and folding plates are present and very clean. The rear pocket is missing as is the overall map of New England. Hardcover. half title, folding plate, viii, [iv], 3 plates, 365, [iii] pp. Two full page plates of views of Sicily, one folding plate of antiquities and one full page plate of antiquities. 3/4 calf leather with brown marbled hard boards. Boards a bit scuffed, corners somewhat worn, joints rubbed at just starting to separate at top and bottom and front board is nearly detached. Interior front end paper and first blank have armorial plate ghost Half title says "this was Sir Samuel Romilly's copy", presumably the great English legal reformer (1757-1818) who supported Wilberforce against the slave trade. The folding plate at the front has some browning at the top and bottom edges. Errata page and advert at the rear, age darkening to the end pages, but otherwise clean and unmarked. The map includes Groenland (sic), Iceland, Hudson’s Bay (“A New Discovered Sea”), Nova Scotia and “Parts Unknown” The plates include various animals including pelicans, owls, porcupines, “sea unicorn”, eagles, etc. and a number of scenes of “Eskimaux” and landscapes. The first part is a synopsis of twenty-three English voyages of discovery to the Northwest Passage. The second part describes the voyage of Captains Moor and Smith which proved the nonexistence of the Northwest Passage from Hudson's Bay,. Warminster: The Library. Fair. 1896. Hardcover. Unpaginated, 16 photographic leaves showing views of Warminster. No date but one source shows 1896 -- street images show only horse and carriage, no automobiles. Ribbed dark brown cloth horizontal octavo with blind ruling, gilt to front cover. Spine is perished and repaired with black library tape, some small faint marks to the front cover. Interior floral endpapers of the period with wear at the gutter, webbing showing, crude tape repair at back gutter, plates are clean and unmarked. Not a perfect copy but certainly a scarce one! Not in WorldCat and barely on Google. There is no title page, only the name of the book and "A. H. Coates, The Library, Warminster" on the cover. Coates was at one time the Secretary of the Warminster Club. He was the proprietor and editor of the Warminster Journal for 60 years.
