Leather over spines is cracked and chipped, with some pieces being partially loosened. Leather over corners is worn. Pebbled green cloth over boards is scuffed and rubbed, and worn along edges. Top hinge is broke, and top cover is loosened from volume. Text block remains tight. Mild to moderate foxing throughout. Cloth cover are rubbed, and a little faded along edges and over spine. Top hinge is cracked, though remains tight. Paper is a bit aged, and there is a little foxing on first and last few leaves. There is some wear at spine ends. Hinges (internal) are broke, though volume remains fairly tight. Contents are clean and intact.

Oxford: The Clarendon Press, 1889. First Edition . Cloth - Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 217 pages, plus colored frontispiece, folding map, and 16 pages of ads. Cloth covers are a little rubbed. A little foxing and slight moisture wrinkles affecting first and last few leaves. Colored plate shows such wrinkles on edges, but image remains very good. Folding map is very good and free of tears.

London: L. Reeve & Co., 1869. First Edition . Cloth - Hard Cover. Good-/No Jacket. 244, plus 24 pages of ads, plus four plates or which three are hand colored. Gilt and blind stamped green cloth covers are rubbed and show some tears along joint of top cover with spine. Top hinge (internal) is broke. Occasional light smudge. Otherwise, volume remains clean and fairly tight. Lovely plates.

Blue cloth covers and gilt lettering/decoration remain bright and clean, though show a little rubbing along edges, corners, and spine ends. Lightly age toned and light signs of use. Overall a tight and clean copy.

OCLC reports this work to have been published in 1838. 42 pages, plus 13 plates including the frontispiece, though one plate is missing from this copy. Red cloth covers are detached and worn. Spine cover is loosened and frayed, though appears complete. Front free end page is detached with significant loss of paper. Fore edges of all leaves have been reinforced. Front free end page is detached, though in place with original tissue guard. Frontispiece shows chipping along edges. Scattered smudges, small stains, and occasional small tears and creases, including some damage to plates. All plates remains very attractive, however, and with bright and good color. Moderately scarce title.

London: Arthur L. Humphreys, 1910. First Edition, Second Impression . Full Leather. Good/No Dust Jacket. 526 pages. Full polished leather with ruled edges and inside gilt dentelles. Raised spine band, with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. It appears that spine cover may have been separated and reglued in a nice, but less than professional manner. Front free end leaf is partially detached. Volume remains solid and contents are generally clean and intact. A good reading copy that still has eye appeal on the shelf.

Part 2 is paginated separately, and parts 3 and 4 are paginated together. Full leather covers are heavily worn, with significant loss of leather. Covers are detached, though the bottom cover is held by one cords. Inked institutional stamp and inked ownership note on the front paste down. Scattered marginalia, mostly on contents page and a little on title page. Paper is dried and a little brittle. Title page with chips along edges. Text block remains tight, and contents are otherwise generally clean and intact.. Third Edition. Full Leather. Fair/No Dust Jacket. 16mo.

Later binding (ca. first half of he twentieth century) in cloth. Gilt stamped lettering on spine remains bright. Covers show light general wear including scuffs, and light damage at corners and spine ends. Older book plate on front paste downs. Mostly light foxing on end leaves and first few and last leaves. Light, scattered, offsetting. All four volumes remain solid and generally very clean.
