A little wear at corners/spine ends and a few tiny marks to page ends. Bookplate to ffep and previous owner's name and date in pencil to front pastedown. interior clean and binding solid. Jacket is unclipped(no price as issued) has 1 inch and 1/4 inch tears to top front corner, 1/2 inch tear at bottom and 3 ich transverse tear to bottom of rear panel across to spine. All tears previously taped on inside which has been removed. Some residue, light staining and scarring remains. General edgewear, rubbing and nicks - especially at spine ends with a few tiny chips. Will include jacket protector.

In pale green cloth with blue type. Dent to bottom of front board, otherwise very little wear. Gift inscription to ffep dated 1976. Jacket is price-clipped with a couple numbers in pen to bottom of front flap, a couple chips to head of spine and tear to bottom of spine which is lightly tanned. Light edgewear.

In light green cloth with blue type and cap motif. Several faint splash stains to top and front page ends. One small spot to middle of spine. Rear bottom corner slighty soft, but corners sharp overall. Endpapers of Thror's map lovely in black and white. Full color frontispiece with 'Printed in Great Britain' to copyright page. Front hinge is starting to split at top third at verso of ffep and bottom 2/3 at page following with 1/4 inch transverse tear between, but binding still solid. A few small dark spots/stains to page following ffep and 2-3 after as well as tops of 3-4 pages, otherwise nice and clean. Corners bumped with small splits at bottom ones. Wear/nicks to spine ends with 1 1/4 inch split to top of rear spine gutter and much smaller one at bottom. Bottom of rear board and spine bumped in three places. Small gift inscription to ffep. One page in book was creased and as a result miscut at printer so is slightly longer on front edge. Jacket is unclipped ($19.95) with edgewear/nicks, some chips to spine ends and a 3/4 inch tear to bottom of front spine crease.

The coveted Folio Society Edition. Volumes 1 & 2 in As New pristine condition - Volume 3 has several tiny punctures and a few small scratches/tears to very bottom of spine undoubtedy done by a cat - Very Good. All volumes are clean with sharp corners and tight bindings. Slipcase has some patterned fading to one side and a couple shallow scratches and punctures from aforementioned feline - Very Good.

A beautiful boxed set of various printings of the second authorized paperback editions with cover art by Tolkien in gold jubilee slipcase. All are nice and square with no spine creasing. The Fellowship of the Rings does have a hard crease to front cover alongside spine with split halfway up from bottom and smaller split at top. Crease to top front corner as well, interior clean and binding solid - without split would be Very Good, but as a result Fair. Other two volumes are beautiful - Fine and Near Fine. Slipcase has bump to one of bottom rear corners some paper lifting at top with a few very short tears and general edgewear/scuffs. Rubbing to bottom of case - Good.

Book has vertical crease to spine, some rubbing through cloth at bottoms of boards, hinge repairs at endpapers with paper scarring and usual stamps. No map. Soiling to page ends. Jacket has some chips at spine ends/corners and tape reinforcement to inside of spine and flap creases/corners, and outside at head and heel - Poor/Good. The Two Towers states Twelfth Printing.
