In blue cloth with white type to spine. A copy that is well loved and has had some repairs to binding over the years including glue to split at top outside of front spine crease and very bottom of rear spine crease. Fraying to bottom of spine with spots worn through cloth at corners, bottom of boards and one spot to top of front board at spine. Front hinge separated at some point exposing mull and endured some amateur repairs with tape and then glue and is now holding well. 2 inch split still visible to top of front hinge at endpapers and tape shadows/adhesive residue to two pages following including title/copyright page front and back. Front edges of same pages have been trimmed. Last two pages and epilogue also show previous taping with residue and shadows, and trimming to front edges and have been reglued. Kokomo: Popular Publications, Inc., 1953. N/A. Paperback. Good/N/A. Signed by author.. Contains early Elmore Leonard story, Under the Friar's Ledge. Signed by author alongside name on first page of story. In surprisingly good shape given the printing quality of early pulps. Cover show nicks and edgewear and a few small chips. A few creases at corners and along bottom of front spine crease. Small splits to top and bottom of same crease and small tape repair to inside cover adjacent bottom of spine. Small letter to front cover erased and a few marks/spots. Unfortunately, previous owner' taped clear plastic book protector to inside of covers and small adhesive strip is attached to bottom of spine as well - otherwise would grade Very Good. Extremely scarce.

No marks in book, only a few abrasions to rear endpapers in crease where a piece of paper previously attached was removed. Jacket is price clipped with small chips at corners( with some short tears), top of spine and rear panel, and a larger chip approx 1 x 1 inch to bottom of spine with a larger associated tear that goes up spine. Some small spots(coffee?) to rear panel.

Front pastedown and ffep have some light paper scarring adjacent hinge as if stuck together at one point, perhaps due to printer. Previous owner's clear plastic book protector is attached to pastedowns with adhesive strips, otherwise Very Good +. No jacket.

Some letters stamped totop page ends that were tinted blue at one point. Discoloration/soiling to board and page ends. Some paper residue from jacket flaps to both pastedowns and stamps to front pastedown. Hinge separated at verso of ffep with mull showing, but still holding. Page preceding rfep torn out which does not affect text. General wear, some small stains/smudges and corner creases. Tanning to endpapers. Jacket is approximately 1/4 inch short as jackets of this era were cut down to fit jacket protectors of the time which left a black residue along bottom and top edges of jacket, inside and out.
