Description:
N.p.: N.p., 1946. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue pebble-grain cloth with gilt lettering, rules and insignia. 276pp. Illustrations, foldout pictorial map. Very good. Faint binding wear only; endpapers a bit age toned and neat blue cloth tape on inner hinges. A tight and quite nice first and likely only edition of this bibliographically-challenged regimental history. This storied regiment, part of the 1st Infantry Division ("The Big Red One"), has been extremely active in every military engagement from the Civil War on up through the War in Afghanistan. Co-author Samuel Fuller (1912-97) was an infantryman in the 16th and went on to fame and fortune as a Hollywood director, novelist and screenwriter. A revised, refocused softbound edition titled "16th Infantry Regiment 1861-1946, Featuring the 8 Campaigns of World War II" was published in 1995, but this hardbound predecessor is rarely seen. Scarce.

Description:
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1921. Hardcover. 12mo. Black blind-ruled cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. viii, 122pp. Very good/very good. Jacket slightly age toned and lightly edgeworn, with chip at head of spine. A clean, tight, most handsome first edition of this political commentary by the Missouri-born journalist, writer, travel writer and novelist (1879-1929) -- in the almost always missing dust jacket! The book itself is rather uncommon, and a copy in the jacket more so.

Tokyo: Kantosha Co., Ltd, 1958. Hardcover. 8vo. Burgundy cloth with gilt lettering. 258pp. Numerous illustrations, foldout chart, foldout drawing. Near fine. Tight, handsome copy of the second volume (only) of this bibliographically cryptic title, No. 88 in the Aireview series, printed in Japanese with a foreword in German. Front flyleaf bears an unidentified signature that appears to read "Henry Hajime Kogawa" and possibly the same name in Japanese characters -- whether this a simple ownership signature or someone connected with this title is uncertain. An uncommon title, in any case.

Boston: Wisdom Publications, 1998. Hardcover. Small 4to. Burgundy paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. xiii, 257pp, (1p ad). Map. Good plus/very good. Book itself tight and pristine, and would grade higher but for numerous lightly inked checkmarks in margins and light underlinings, with occasional margin comments; mild jacket edgewear. Second printing of this memoir by this Tipetan freedom fighter. She boldly signs her first name in black ballpoint on the title page, adding her circular red personal inkstamp alongside (with red ink smear from same, possibly bearing her fingerprint, on the facing blank leaf!). Despite checkmarks and other text markings, highly uncommon to find signed.
