Palma de Mallorca, MDCMLXI (1961.) Edicions La Cartoixa. English language translation. An account of the months Frederic Chopin and George Sand spent in Majorca during the winter of 1838-39. Prefaced by an extract from the memoirs of her granddaughter Aurore Sand. Illustrated by photos, portraits and drawings by the author, including a fold-out in the rear of the Carthusian monastery at Valldemossa where Chopin and Sand lived in a three-room "cell." This book evidently purchased at the monastery, with ink stamp to the half-title page: "Celda / Federico Chopin / Y / George Sand." 82 pp., chronology and bibliography. Paperbound 8vo. Cream wraps, printed in red and black. VG with minor edge wear. Clean and securely bound.

A study of how the five principal human senses are expressed in the work of French author Simonie-Gabrielle Colette (1873-1954.) Black clothbound hardcover with gilt lettering. 4to. 11 x 8.5 inches. Preliminary page signed by two officials at the college. 109 pp., typed recto side only, plus a list of works consulted and a brief resume. With laid-in obituary of Bisson (1931-2019), a longtime teacher in York, Maine after earning degrees from Tufts, Boston College, and the University of Maine. VG. A sound, sturdy volume.

Tokyo: Hatsubai Riburopoto, 1991. 1st edition. Signed by the editor with TLS also enclosed. Near Fine in dust jacket. A nicely designed book on cyborgs, feminism and female identity. All text is in Japanese, apart from limited titles in English. Includes Donna Harraway's important essay, "A Cyborg Manifesto: Science, Technology, and Socialist-Feminism in the Late Twentieth Century." Also includes work by Samuel R. Delany and Jessica Amanda Salmonson. Illustrated by 16 pages of photographs and artwork. Signed on the copyright page by Takayuki Tatsumi, who contributed two essays as the epilogue and prologue. A typed letter with handwritten, signed personal note is also laid in. (The one-page letter summarizes the contents of the book in English and mentions an upcoming lecture in Japan by the recipient.) 241, xvi pages. 12mo. 7.5 by 5.25 inches. A good solid copy overall. A title in Harper's "Black and White Series." Text is from a memorial address delivered by Curtis at the Brooklyn Institute, Feb. 22, 1892.

Upper covers creased but clean and securely bound. Appears to be unread.
