This copy from the library of American collector Albert A. Howard, with his small book label at the rear.

[16] pp. Stapled pamphlet, though the staples have been removed and there is some discoloration from the staples in the central folio, so it was perhaps a wise decision to remove them. An uncommon list of the works printed by the Press, many of the more important works like Chaucer, Bede, Pindar, and Froissart occupy a full page and include engravings. Not in Ransom or Rogerson.

A type specimen thank you to Paul Duensing who taught Hamady "to cast type in the barn! Here is the first attempt at solo experiment & this is Ashley-Crawford 24 point. MFG. Spring 1980." A fantastic broadside capturing Hamady's playfulness both in design and content. Not in Two Decades of Hamady & the Perishable Press.

Bound as issued in printed paper over boards, Ballantyne's striking linocut "Wood Nymphs" is present and in nice condition. Light soiling to the binding to the binding; early library stamp on the top of the title page and the top margin of two other leaves--no other indications that this is ex-library.

New York: The Colophon, Ltd, 1931. Hard Cover. Good binding. Quarto. Limited edition, one of 3000 copies. Bound as issued in printed paper over boards. Milne's etching is present. Lightly rubbed some wear to the joints, though it remains a solid copy; minor dampstaining to the top corner of the spine and boards, a stain that carries into the textblock, visible in the top, inner margin of most leaves including the Milne etching; library stamp at the top of the front free endpaper and title page being the only indication that this is ex-library. While Milne's signed, "Hilltop: A Drypoint in Two Colors" is what makes this such a collected issue of The Colophon, there is a wealth of material including but not limited to essays by Charles Chesnutt, A Edward Newton, and Frederick Goudy, as well as a bibliography of the illustrations of Rudolph Ruzicka by William A Kittredge.

A solid copy that presents well despite many cuts in the leather on of the front cove; contemporary ownership markings on the front free endpaper and preliminary blank; contents with frequent dog-eared leaves; moderate to heavy foxing throughout. Include Walker's Key at the back with separate title page and separate pagination. O'Neill W-110; American Imprints 42308.

Covers are just a trifle soiled with some light toning; a solid copy; small book label of John Ruyle on the verso of of the front cover. A manuscript note on Hotel Algonquin letterhead addressed to John noting that the book was purchased at the Strand.

Limited edition, number 50 of 50 special copies from a full edition of 500. Signed by the designer, Stinehour on the limitation page. As issued in marbled paper boards with cloth shelf-back and gold-stamped paper label on the spine. Two hinged in facsimiles found in all copies as well as several in-text illustrations (some full page). Additionally, there are three specimens, two are bifolia and one single sheet are hinged in at the back in a section "Limited Issue Supplement" found only in this special edition of 50 copies. Fascinating correspondence by two larger than life figures in the early 20th century. A beautiful copy with only a bit of foxing to the fore-edge. From the library of American collector Albert A. Howard with his small label on the rear pastedown.

Early binding, backed in leather with marbled paper over boards; ex-library copy with the usual markings. Binding is worn at the extremities inclusing chipping to the spine ends; hinges are a bit weak but holding; board edges are rubbed; pages are lightly and evenly toned in the margins. A remarkably resource for Wells scholars or readers.

Folio. 54, [2] pp. Limited edition, number XI of 75 Roman numeral copies, signed by the Leonard Bahr, the printer. As issued, quarter bound in vellum with marbled paper over boards; spine titled in gold; printed in black with running headers in blue and red. The edition includes two leaves from the Doves Press, one quarto leaf from Paradise Lost printed on vellum as well a folio leaf from the book of Esther from the Doves Press Bible printed on paper. A bright, fresh copy, complete with mounted photograph of Emery Walker and T. J. Cobden-Sanderson along with the pamphlet, "A Letter from Stella" (1971), which serves as an epilogue to this present work. Signed by Webb, Jr. As issued, in printed wrappers. Light wear to the covers but quite a nice copy of this uncommon bibliography. Great information including an annotated bibliography with some illustration for 30 Rogersville imprints.

As issued in red cloth over flexible boards; spine title is a trifle faded; contents clean; printed in red and black; illustrated throughout with 32 facsimiles in addition to a folding frontispiece and three other folding facsimiles. Dust jacket with printed paper spine label is a trifle darkened on the spine else and very gently shelfworn; both book and jacket are in Very Good or better condition. Stapled pamphlet, "Die Autobiographischen Aufzeichnungen Erhard Ratdolts 1462 - 1523" is present in the sleeve on the front pastedown. Uncommon look into 15th and 16th century printer. Text in German.

Original stapled wrappers. 3 facsimiles, one of which is the full centerfold spread. A nice copy with only light toning to the covers. An interesting inquiry by the noted bibliographer and book historian into the earliest uses and successes of woodcut initials and decorations. Uncommon.

A note on the leaf opposite p. 194 notes that 96 copies were printed on verge d'Arches, numbered 1-96. It's uncertain if this is an out of series copy from this limitation or if that statement refers to another edition. In publisher's printed wrappers. Rubber stamped, "Made In / Great Britain" below the date on the title page. A fragile book, the front wrapper is detaching but holding for the moment; a bit of chipping to the bottom of the spine and the inner corner of the front wrapper--not affecting text; wear to the bottom edge of the rear wrapper; narrow tidelines to some areas of the wrapper edges, not intruding into the textblock; textblock is generally and evenly toned; contemporary bookseller's ticket for The Personal Book Shop, Boston on the front free endpaper. Stunningly reprinted, perhaps no other printer at the time had such a similar aesthetic Cobden-Sanderson's Dove Press--clean and elegant in type and page design.
