Description:
Macdonald & Jane's, 1979. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First Printing of the First UK edition. Never an easy book to find and now quite rare. This is a nice copy, tight and square, shelf-bumped at the corners and pushed at the spine tips a little. Remarkably fresh, white text-block, Macdonald's are/were probably THE WORST publishing house for their use of cheap paper-stock which browns easily. Free from owner names or stains etc, very Near Fine. The dustjacket is also in Near Fine condition with price of £4.95 at the front flap (many copies are unpriced). Minor rubbing to the spine tips and corners, slight creasing along the edges. A nice copy, uncommon thus.

Description:
London: Harwood-Smart Publishing, 1976. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. An attractive copy of this early title by the best-selling Welsh novelist. The second Piers Roper story, following The Shakeout. A VG copy indeed, pushed at the spine tips, corners lightly bumped. Slightly cracked at the title and first couple of gatherings but tight and reasonably square. The dustjacket is also in VG shape - Near Fine, in fact with just minor tanning to flaps and a tiny scrape to the laminate near the gutter at the front cover. Loosely inserted a small, plain white card which has been boldly hand-signed by Ken Follett in black ink, ideal size for mounting in the book.

Description:
Helsinki: Schildts, 1968. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. First Edition. The rarest of all Tove Jansson's first editions, the first trade edition of Sculptor's Daughter. As the publisher to whom she submitted her manuscripts Schildts were nervous about this departure from the Moomins series, particularly as the author refused point-blank to illustrate the book. As a small Finnish publishing house which caters only for the Swedish-speaking minority in that country it is likely that no more than 500 copies were printed. In the event, demand exceeded supply and Schildts published a second edition the following year. Incredibly hard-to-find, only the second copy to have passed through our hands in 30 years. A Fine copy in the publisher's 1/4 cloth with handsome marbled boards, pp. 146 with index at the rear. Exceptionally clean with strong gilt titles, no bumping of the extremities, square and tight. The most minor of creasing at the crown. A beautiful copy.

Description:
Helsinki: Schildts, 1994. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1994, First thus, the revised, illustrated edition. When first published in 1968, Tove Jansson insisted that her first foray into adult's literature would not include illustrations of any kind - so intent was she in distancing herself from the Moomins. By 1994, however, she had mellowed somewhat, and she agreed to the inclusion of photographs from her personal family archive - as well as one of her own drawings - for this revised edition of her semi auto-biographical work, Sculptor's Daughter. The original Schildts Swedish language editions of Tove Jansson's works are always the most difficult to acquire due to their comparatively tiny print-runs. And this title is no exception. EXTREMELY hard to find and particularly in such superb condition as this copy. SIGNED copies of either edition are amongst the most elusive of all her works - they simply do not appear on the open market. You are more likely to find an original leaf… Read More
