The bindings show moderate wear and are quite sturdy. Some corners are a little bumped, and there is some foxing to the covers. Outside edges of the text blocks are foxed, but the interior appears clean. One leaf in Volume III is loose, but this appears to be an addition to correct a printing error. A second leaf for pages 283/284 is bound in between 382 and 385, but the correct leaf for 383/385 is laid in loosely to correct the mistake. (There is also a 283-284 bound in where it is supposed to be). So the text is complete and is as issued. Occasionally illustrated with some family crests, coats of arms, and photos, but this is not a heavily illustrated work. A decent set of the complete work. This set weighs about 20 pounds.
