"Francis Vivian Drake was born in London around 1895. While a student there, he left the classrooms in 1914 to join the British cavalry. Soon afterward he transferred in 1915 to the Royal Flying Corps and later was sent to Canada to help form the Royal Canadian Air Force." This is an account of his experiences during World War I. Kansas City, Mo: Press of Spencer Printing Company, 1920. HB. Red cloth, gilt lettering on front cover and spine, 8vo, 359 pp. Detailed regimental history of the 129th Field Artillery, mainly consisting of men from MIssouri, and their service during World War I, including a full roster of members. The 129th received their training at Camp Doniphan in Oklahoma, and arrived in France in early June, 1918. The regiment saw action at Meuse-Argonne, Alsace and Lorraine, returning home in April, 1919. Future President Captain Harry S. Truman commanded Company D of the 129th regiment. Book illustrated with photographs and 23 maps, 6 of which are fold-out. Included are large fold-out panoramas of Camp Doniphan at the front and the Last Battlefield of the regiment at Woevre at the rear of the book. Covers show light edge wear, gilt lettering bright. Swan (1859-1943) was a popular Victorian writer of romantic fiction. During World War I she worked for the Ministry of Food, traveled to America to lecture on war efforts, and wrote this book on her observations. Book condition VG, lacking the dust jacket.

Ruth was historian of the Roy Kelly Post of the American Legion in Ashland, Wisconsin, and served as a chaplain during the war. Most of the men from Ashland County served in the 32 "Red Arrow" Division in France. Includes information on those serving from the various villages in the county. With lithographs by Rene Ben Sussan at the start of each chapter, and with 4 maps. Account of the authors experiences in World War I. Brooks (1882-1964) graduated from Harvard in 1905. Living in France when World War I started, he enlisted as an ambulance driver and later attended artillery school and rose to the rank of Lieutenant of a field artillery battery in the French army. He saw action at the Marne, Chemin-des-Dames, Chateau-Thierry and Meuse-Argonne, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre. Unnumbered copy of a limited edition of 400 copies. No marks in book, binding tight. Light offsetting to endpapers. Very light edge wear to covers, small dent on front cover, light stain bottom rear cover. Book condition VG.
