Description:
Broadsides. Very Good Condition. 2 broadsides and a physician circular for M'Munn's (sometimes Mc Munn's) products. His opium elixir was advertised as having "all the valuable medicinal properties of Opium, to the exclusions of those which are deleterious and useless. ca. 8" x 13" with testimonials at the bottom. Developed in the 1830s and marketed aggressively starting in the 1840s, M'Munn's elixir was a popular and controversialk product that claimed to remove the narcotic properties of opium and make it safe for children (with some predictably terrible results). WIth a ca. 8"x 14" broadside for McMunn's Lubricating Compound for "railroad cards, steam engines, & machinery of all kinds". Not content with getting into the opium business, McMunn also made a lubricant which he patented in 1860. It was made by "combining oil with various ingredients" Extensive testimonials. Chipping with a little loss at edges. Extensive manuscript notes on verso regarding the efficacy of his sulphate of quinine. 3…

Description:
1591. Very Good Condition. A single sheet from an early German edition of Le Moyne, likely the first German edition published in 1591, the year after the Latin. Mild foxing and age toning, tear wear removed. "Some considerable distance from the place where we have constructed our fort, rise some high mountains called Apalatcy in the Indian tongue. As can be seen from our map, these mountains give birth to three rivers in whose sand there is much gold, silver and copper. The natives dig trenches near the banks of the rivers so as to catch the sand brought down by the current. The water rapidly fills these up and goes on further. A short time later the Indians remove the sand which has gathered there with hollow reeds and convey it by canoe down the great river which runs into the sea and which we named the river of May. The Spaniards have taken great advantages of the riches coming from these places." Translation from Discovering the New World, Based on the Works of Theodore de Bry, edited by Michael…
