The book was sent to police departments around the United States for distribution. This copy was distributed by the Watertown, Connecticut Police Department and includes that information on the front cover. In addition to the 31 pages of illustrated text, thare is a letter from the Watertown Chief of Police and 12 pages of ads for local businesses. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1944. vi, 260 pages. Scarce August 1944 (date code I-T) reprint of the fourth book in the "Little House" series. It was a Newbery Honor Book for 1940. The book is clean and tight in the scarce dust jacket that has some minor edgewear. The white background on the jacket has darkened, and there is some spine sunning but the title and names of author, publisher, and illustrators are clear. Nurnberg (Nuremberg), Germany: J. W. Spear & Sohne, 1925. 5 heavy cardbord leaves, including covers. Not dated; so 1925 is an estimate, but there is a gift inscription on the rear cover that is dated 5/12/32. The text is in German, with the front cover text in Suetterlin Script, which was discontinued prior to World War II. The title translated into English is "The Clock: A Picture Book to Learn and Play." Each page has an illustration and text showing children in daily activities at 8 hours indicated on clocks, from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm. The book is remarkably well-preserved: the movable hands on the clock on the front cover are intact; illustrations inside and on front cover remain vivid and bright; some rubbing along the edges; soiling on the rear cover.. The book is the result of collaboration between two of the giants of paper engineering, Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart. It is the third volume in the Encyclopedia Mythologica series. Real Adventures Publishing Company was an imprint of Fiction House, the pulp and comic book publisher co-founded by Comic legend Jack Kirby. This 3-D comic is quite scarce in any condition! Full color cover art depicts a Nativity scene by Kelly Freas The original 3-D glasses are NOT present, but we have laid in 2 pairs: a 1950s children's 3-D glasses that was a Puff's Sugar Crisp cereal premium and a more generic adult pair. The comic book is in about very good condition: Tight, bright, and attractive, with light soiling at edges of covers, a small (faint) stain on back cover, and supple pages that are very lightly (uniformly) tanned.. On the copyright page, the publisher explains the rationale for including the page of stick-on decals produced by the Meyercord Company. Almost all copies of this book now on the market are missing the decal page. Our copy was bound with two pages of decals, only one of which has been roughly excised; so a full set of 6 decals remains in the book. The book is clean, bright, and tight. Each endpaper illustrates a separate scene (front pastedown endpaper has tiny bookseller's sticker). A few charming wood engravings accompany the text. The book is clean and tight, with a very narrow band of fading along the top edge of the red cloth cover; pages are clean and illustrations are bright and unfaded; 2 pages have a 3/4" closed tear in the bottom margin; one page has one chipped corner. Unpaginated.  Profusely illustrated children's book, including 12 full-page chromolithographs (some picturing racist"golliwogs").  Endpapers include 4 full-page advertisements for Mellin's Food, Wright's Coal Tar Soap, Neave's Food, and Plasmon Cocoa.  The approximate date of publication reflects the information in those ads.  The book is in very good condition: clean and tight, with occasional light foxing; edges of paper on boards are rubbed--worn through to boards at corners.. SIGNED, without inscription, by the illustrator, Maurice Sendak, best known as the author & illustrator of "Where the Wild Things Are". This translation was originally published in 1823 in German Popular Tales, the first English edition of tales from Grimm. A clean tight copy, with minor rubbing at the head and tail of the spine as well as the corners. Clear glazing of the paper has become slightly bubbled along the joint of the spine, but the paper cover underneath is intact. Nicer than it sounds.. SIGNED. First Edition. Hard Cover.
