There are 17 original tinted lithographs, printed by J.H. Buford, for whom the important American artist Winslow Homer worked as an apprentice lithographer. Two of the lithographs are signed (with initials on the stone) by Homer: "Arch at Danversport, and Residence of Hon. R.S. Daniels" (facing page 21) and "Arch at Danversport, near the Baptist Church" (facing page 89). Five additional lithographs in the book are attributed to Homer by David Tatham, who is considered to be the expert on Homer's graphic art. The text includes descriptions of the decorations and parade, speeches, odes, toasts, and press reviews of the event.
