Chicago: The Lewis Publishing Co., 1888. First Edition . Leather. Poor. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Large format, 9 1/2"W X 12"H. 664 pp. Book is intact with all pages and end papers intact. Front hinge has loosened, and rear hinge is separated from leather of spine, which has worn and cracked places and a piece missing from base, Significant wear on corners and edges with rubbing on boards. Gilt design and print on front board are dulled, as is that on page edges.. Front end papers have some penciled writing, a stamped word, "March", and a few small tears. Both front and rear end papers have foxing and smudging. Pages have occasional foxing, spotting and a few tears. Opens to signature in places due to condition of spine. Once beautiful embossed leather boards with historical contents well worth restoration.
