R.H. Russell, New York, 1901. This is the "Wayside Series" edition of The "Bab" Ballads, BAB being a childhood nickname of W.S. Gilbert before he went on to team with Mr. Sullivan to make theatrical history. 6 1/8" X 3 7/8" bound in green leather with 5 raised bands by the Fifth Avenue Bookshop. The corner tips are abradedand there is wear at the spine ends and on some of the bands. In addition, there is a light white residue on parts of the covers which leads me to believe that someone may have tried to polish or saddle soap these beautiful covers. 184pp.. Hardcover. BOBBS-MERRILL, Indianapolis, 1913. Absolutely awful-looking outside, but very nice inside. 6 Volumes 7 7/8" X 5 1/4" in marbled boards with burgundy leather spines and corners, marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. This is the "Biographical Edition."Backstrips of all 6 volumes have turned brittle and chipped off. Remaining leather is water stained. Vol. 6 shows light water stain on the edge of the inside margins of some pages. Otherwise, the contents of all volumes is remarkably clean and nice. Excellent reading copies. One interesting item: the editor has taken pains to indicate in which publication and in which year each of these poems was published. Hence, these volumes are of Bibliographic interest. 447pp, 552pp, 568pp, 560pp, 493pp, 586pp respectively.. Special Edition. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket.
