Description:
(Voir ci-dessous pour la traduction française. // Imo quicquid sexus est videre Latina translatione.) RARE COLLECTION. Presumably first edition. This set of 47 multilingual volumes of a religious periodical span from 1950 to 1967 and includes quite a few pieces of ephemera (flyers, cards, etc.). The main languages used are Latin and French, but there may be also English, German, and Dutch. Some volumes are sparsely illustrated in black and white. The content consists mainly of academic articles, reviews, and bibliographies, of subjects pertaining to theology and canonical law. The collection is ex-library, but with only penciled or penned numbers and the odd stamp. The condition of the books varies, some cracking with chips and tears and underlining, some appearing virtually unread. Please refer to listing images and contact us to request further photos: over 400 images are available upon request, which capture both exterior and interior content and condition, the page number of the last page of each…

Description:
Autographed. Presumably first edition. 114 p. Incredibly mild shelfwear with sticker to cover, otherwise Fine. The author was born in Trinidad and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Canada in the late 1960s. From the back: This collection is a sensory journey from a warm green equatorial island to the changing seasons of a Prairie landscape. The poems explore the effects of colonialism, ancestral memories, and immigration on the poet's journey from youth to maturity. The frantic push for first-world development, rapidly eroding the once-pristine landscape and simple way of life of a third-world island, and creating a new race of colonials, it is passionately delineated."A brave and beautiful collection – at times reflective, at times haunting, but always, challenging us to rethink our ideas of home and our dilemmas of belonging." – Ramabai Espinet

Description:
320 p. Includes suggested reading and an exclusive extras section "P.S. Insights, Interviews & More ... " with the author. Very minor shelfwear, otherwise Near Fine. From the back: In her entertaining and edifying New York Times bestseller, acclaimed author Francine Prose invites you to sit by her side and take a guided tour of the tools and tricks of the masters to discover why their work has endured. Written with passion, humor, and wisdom, Reading Like a Writer will inspire readers to return to literature with a fresh eye and an eager heart—to take pleasure in the long and magnificent sentences of Philip Roth and the breathtaking paragraphs of Isaac Babel; to look to John Ie Carré for a lesson in how to advance plot through dialogue and to Flannery O'Connor for the cunning use of the telling detail. And, most important, Prose cautions readers to slow down and pay attention to words, the raw material out of which all literature is crafted. "[It] should be read by everyone who wants to write, and…
