A tight, generally fine copy, Christmas, 1928 gift inscr. front free endpaper. In the colorful ilustrated dust jacket in bold yellow, blue and red featuring a soaring single-wing airplane. Jacket is very good with some edgewear and rubbing to the folds.

Octavo in royal blue cloth lettered in gilt and with spine decoration of a palm tree in gilt. 2 pp. publisher's ads at front; 465 pp. plus additional 2-page publisher's list at ear. Illustrated with full and partial page engravings. The author's memoirs and anecdotes of a Christmas season spent touring the West Indies; he visited such islands as Trinidad, Monserrat, thge Bocas Islands, etc. A tight example, about very good, some staining to the front bpoard and narrow loss at the foot of the spine. Affixed to the front endpaper is a manuscript page dated November 25th, 1871 regarding the establishment of the Cream Ridge (New Jersey) Circiulating Library and containing its rules and a list of its members (which numbered 20 persons).

Collection of Christmas images from Rodrigue's Blue Dog Chrismas series of limited ediiton 10-color hand-pulled large silk screen prints that had been issued with a150-piece limitation between 1998 and 2000.

Issued without dust jacket. 288 pps. Illustrated throughout with color and black and white photographs. A fascinating march through the calendar to uncover the story behind, and the marketing of, each holiday from New Year's through Christmas. The take on each is distinctly from the retail angle.

NY: James G. Gregory, 1864. First. Cloth. Sqaure 8vo. in blue textured cloth lined in gilt and with ornate gilt lettering "A Christmas Carol" on front and rear covers. All edges gilt, half-title printed in red and green and a lovely color litho title plate again reading "A Christmas Carol" with lettering in red and gilt, holly sprig and gilt border. Unpaginated (3, title, 28) illustrated with 12 full page duotone litho drawings of religious and Christmas scenes and two page musical arrangement with lyrics. A tight copy, all gilt clear and mostly bright; cloth somewhat dusty and with moderate wear at tips and spine ends. A very scarce title, beautifully produced.

Phila: Lippincott, 1858. First. Cloth. Good. First edition. Scarce. Slim 12mo. in brown blindstamped cloth, gilt lettering, all edges gilt. Worn at the edges though the gilt lettering is still fairly bright. Shallow loss at the foot of the spine and a short section of loss to the cloth near the head of the spine.

Hardcover. 24mo. in forest green cloth with blindstamped design and with gilt lettering "Christmas Eve" and decoration front cloth and spine. 48 pps. with frontis and other illustrations both full and partial page. Collection of stories translated from the German; the title story is the only Christmas piece. Cloth is rubbed with wear at the tips and spine ends, cover gilt still bright and spine gilt generally clear. Gift inscr. and own, sig. dated 1858 on front pastedown; scattered staining to the margins and with a dampstain to the upper edge of the rear blank.

Boston: William H, Hill, Jr.. Cloth. Very Good. Slim, square small octavo in maroon cloth with spine lettering and ornament in gilt; 96 pps; illustrated with ornamental capitals, woodcut vignettes and frontispiece woodcut of Santa Claus in front of a Christmas tree surrounded by a family with multiple assorted children. A very good copy with some spotting and rubbing about the edges; spine somewhat rubbed but gilt is still generally bright; effaced early ownership sig. ffep. The book carries no date but we believe it is the 1863 third edition. Laid in is a letter from a New York bookseller dated 1940 quoting this title and one other Christmas book to (apparently) the buyer. Quite scarce, OCLC locates only three copies in American libraries.

Fine in very good dust jacket. A collection of stories about different people in different lands celebrate Christmas Day. Primarily the stories deal with the religious atmosphere of the holiday season but there are also pieces of sentiment, fantasy and adventure, realism,poetry and some in the comic spirit as well. Amoong the athors included are Auden, Ring Lardner, Saki, Gogol, Coppee and others.

Inscribed to a fellow minister on the first front blank by "The Author". Collection of short verse pieces and hymn lyrics about Christmas and other religious subjects. A tight, bright example withg some spotting across the front board.

Hardcover in light green linen cloth lined in dark green and lettered in brown. 324 pp. Illustrated with full and partial page engravings. Very good, minor spine fade, minor wear at the extremities. Christmas 1900 gift inscription front free endpaper. A collection of German tales in English translation. The stories are mostly family and romance related, only one of which is a Christmas piece. Uncommon.

Grey cloth ornately decorated in gilt and black with "Standard Library" on front cover. 293 pps. plus publisher's ads. Spotting to the spine and inner portion of the rear board which also shows dark staining along the gutter. Extremely unusual to find a review copy with the publishre's slip in a book for the 1870s.

Very scarce collection of verse pieces, several of which are Christmas related including the title piece, "Kriss Kringle", "The Christmas Gift", Merry Sleigh-Bells", Christmas Anthem", and a couple of New Years' pieces. dampstaining to the outer 1/3 of the front and rear boards.

The beginning section is about memories of a Pennsylvania Christmastime and the remainder about the appenticship years of 16th century engraver Jacques Callot. Fine.

Illustrated with additional color plate and black and white reproductions from Brookshaw and other botanicals. The 1945 annual "Christmas Letter" gift books privately distributed by Biddle. Laid in is a typed postscript letter to friens concerning the production of this book. Near fine, edges of the slightly oversized wrappers a bit bumped.

A look back at 19th century Christmas in prose and illustration as assembled from Harper's Weekly magazine 1871, 1873, 1888. Fine, small sticker removal spot rear cover.

String bound in printed stiff wraps, 8 pp. with tipped in facsimile of an 1890 Christmas poem by Brooks and also a sheet with music and lyrics "A Christmas Carol" by William Self. First page is printed in red and black, dated December 25, 1958 and bears best wishes for a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Following page is a foreword by Arents. Generally fine, faint even soiling to thw wraps. Brooks was both a minister and a poet and was the author of "O Little Town of Bethlehem

Slim square octavo in olive gree cloth ornately lettered in front cover and spine in gilt and blindstamp on rear cover. 32 pp. Beautiful hand color frontispiece engraving "Luther's Christmas Tree" depicting Martin Luther and two other adults with some children, toys and gifts and a candle-lit Christmas tree in the background. Six additional full page engravings. From the preface: "Dear Children--This little book has been prepared for you as a Christmas gift....". A tight, example, gilt bright, spotting fading to the rear board; scattered foxing to the last ten or so leaves. Small , neat inscription front free endpaper: "Luke/ from Grandma/ Christmas 1862". Very scarce; OCLC reports six copies but locates only two.
