Small octavo, bound in full vellum titled in black ink on front cover in an Old English script similar to the title page font, decorated endpapers. 43 pp. Vellum boards bowed, Fore-edges of binding trimmed, a very good copy. Likely, a special issue of some form. Very scarce. ¶ Sir Henry Newbolt is mostly remembered as a British poet who wrote patriotic verse. He was Knighted in 1915 and appointed Companion of Honour in 1922. He was also the author of the Medieval-style high fantasy romance novel ALADORE.

Manchester: Manchester Institute of Contemporary Arts, March, 1968. First Edition . 12mo, original printed wrappers, sewn at spine. [12] pp. Inscribed by the author to fellow poet J. Michael Yates on the inner front cover: "Mike from Robin / All the Best / R". Issued as MICA Poets No. 8. The recipient was Small scratches, near fine.

London & Glasgow: Collins Clear-Type Press., No Date [circa 1915]. Full Leather. Very Good. 16mo, small upright oblong format, 40 mm wide x 106 mm tall x 4 mm thick. Bound in the publisher's original limp suede with an inlaid border in blind, gilt titles on spine, all edges gilt. 60 pp, double-page colour frontispiece. Text block pulled very slightly from binding, endpapers cracking & slightly chipped, but overall a very good and completely intact copy. Bound in a very strange reverse oblong format (tall & skinny), almost a miniature book (or, indeed a miniature book, depending on your criteria). No copies are recorded on-line or in Worldcat - certainly a scarce book.

[445] pp, Indexes to Titles and to First Lines at rear. Endpapers mildly browned, else a fine copy in a fine dust jacket, slightly tanned on the spine panel. A sharp copy.

Octavo, original tan paper covered boards, white cloth spine, paper label titled in red on spine. [127] pp. Limited Edition of 500 copies, printed on Van Gelder paper and signed by the author. Spare spine label laid in. Mild browning to endpapers, a fine copy in a nice attractive dust jacket, lightly worn at edges and with small internal tape repairs to the folds and spine tips. Overall, an attractive copy.

[21] pp. Contemporary ink name and date in ink on front free endpaper, minor wear to the cloth at spine tips and corners, some very tanning to spine. A very good, sound copy of an attractive book. ¶ Kipling's eulogy to King Edward VII [1841-1910], with decorative title page and borders by Heath Robinson to every leaf (note: printed on rectos only).

London: Elliot Sock, 62 Paternoster Row, E.C., No Date [Circa 1885]. First Printing of this Edition. Octavo, bound in full vellum, front & rear panels decorated in green, front panel lettered in gold, light brown floral endpapers. 31 unnumbered leaves, each text leaf delicately illustrated by Fenn; with a facsimile of one of the author's manuscripts for the poem in pocket at end. Accompanying the manuscript is a small pamphlet titled simply "Gray's Elegy" which discusses the poem and the manuscript. Although unstated, this was issued in an edition of only 250 copies, and this is the preferred binding state. Browning to frontispiece and title leaf from tissue guard; a few tiny chips to the edges of the rear free endpaper, vellum boards lightly bowed and with moderate soiling; a very good copy of a very attractive edition. Dalby Hallowe'en 1967"; it is also signed in pen by the Editor, G. Krishnamurti, also dated 31.10.1967. Loosely laid in is a promotional flyer for the book, with the statement at the bottom "Published on 13th November, 1967 to mark the 60th anniversary of Thompson's death" - but the date has been crossed out and changed by hand to Oct 31, 1967. Most volumes with one or two attractive portrait engravings. This edition, usually referred to as "Bagster's Edition", is a reprint of John Bell's edition of 1777 - 92, which was issued in 109 volumes. Includes introductions with critical and biographical notes by Samuel Johnson and others. Some spine labels missing; one volume (v. 79-80, Pope Vol 2-3) has the front board sympathetically replaced.
