Gift inscription on front endpaper; newspaper article taped to rear pastedown. The jacket has a few closed tears at edges, and the yellow spine is sun faded, At the bottom of the rear panel of the jacket, which is otherwise blank, is the statement: "This edition of The 101 Ranch was prepared especially for the 101 Ranch Rodeo Foundation, Inc." There are two other newspaper articles about the 101 laid in. Front flap has $6.95 price on front flap. Includes a Foreword by Glenn Shirley, many photographs, appendices, and an index; 255 pages.

Limited to 750 copies, although this copy is unnumbered. Front board and spine have faint dampstains, just slightly changing the blue color. No names or other marking in the book. Starting in 1855 and going through the Indian Wars, this is a detailed narrative of the personnel and activities of the Fifth Cavalry, including appendices listing all soldiers through each of the dampaigns; 705 pages.

Houston: Frontier Press of Texas, 1958. First Edition . Hardcover. Oblong elephant folio lacking a dust jacket as issued. Good copy, with dampstain affecting about first 6" from the hinge. The dampstain has caused a little discoloration on the front and rear endpapers and some rippling. The interior pages are not really affected except for slight rippling. The illustrated front board is also slightly loose and the outer cover has separated from the underlying board at the left hand edge. With over 1000 biographical entries and 600 photographs. This copy is inscribed by the author: "To Charles Kidwell - the expert on old firearms and a Kansan of the old school - who got in under the wire on the last copy of this book. Ed Bartholomew.
