1.That Melody of Love, from MGM's 1927 production 'Love'.
Love is a silent film directed by Edmund Goulding and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. MGM made the film in order to capitalize on its winning romantic team of Greta Garbo and John Gilbert who had starred in the 1926 blockbuster, Flesh and the Devil.
Taking advantage of the star power, a drama was scripted based on Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. It provided the public with a taste of Gilbert-Garbo eroticism that would never again be matched. The publicity campaign for the film was one of the largest up to that time, and the title was changed from the original, Heat.
It is 3 pieces of music + covers. The music is perfectly usable; the cover is not in great shape and would need professional attention.

Hurt is a song written in 1930 by Al Piantadosi and Harold Solomon.
I can't find any recording records of it; it's more notable for its fabulous cover art.

2. Truly I Love You
This song was written in 1930 by Walter Hirsch and Frank Magine. It was recorded by Phil Spitalny and His All-Girl Orchestra.

3. When I Grow Too Old To Dream
This song was written in 1935, by Oscar Hammerstein and Sigmund Romberg. It was for the MGM film The Night is Young, starring Ramon Novarro, Evelyn Laye and, among others, Rosalind Russell.
This is 3 sheets of music, plus cover. It also represents the first year when publishers started printing music in the 8 1/2" x 11" size we're now used to.
It's in mint condition.

1. BLUE TANGO, 1952
This was the number one song in 1952. Leroy Anderson wrote it as an instrumental composition then, later, Mitchell Parish added lyrics. It has since been recorded dozens of times.
This music is not particularly rare. It is two pages of music, in excellent condition. The original owner's label is on the cover; a restorer can remove that.

2. HEART, 1955
This song was written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, and was one of the hits from the original Broadway production of Damn Yankees, starring Gwen Verdon and Stephen Douglass. Verdon went on to star in the 1958 film, which was also a major hit.
It is 3 pages of music plus cover and is in good condition. There's wear at the edges.

3. SUZY SNOWFLAKE, 1951

Heis a song about God, written in 1954 by Jack Richards, with lyrics by Richard Mullan. in 1954. The first recording to be released was by Al Hibbler, whose version reached No. 4 on Billboard's chart of Best Sellers in Stores, No. 7 on Billboard's Top 100, No. 7 on Billboard's chart of Most Played by Jockeys, and No. 8 on Billboard's chart of Most Played in Juke Boxes. The McGuire Sisters recorded it, as did The Righteous Brothers, and Diana Ross & The Supremes. It was a top-ten hit for Andy Williams in 1960.
This is a copy of the original music, published by Avas Music in 1954, with Hibbler on the cover.
There are tiny bits of wear to the edges and the original owner's label will have to be steamed off. Dancing Sweeties (1930) is an American Pre-Code romantic comedy film with music directed by Ray Enright, released by Warner Bros., and starring Grant Withers and Sue Carol. The film is based on the story Three Flights Up by Harry Fried.
Kiss Waltz is the only song released from the film.

3. THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE, from Holiday Inn
This is one of the songs from Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn, which was later made into the 1942 film starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. The film featured 'White Christmas' and 'Easter Parade'.

The Jolson Story
was a 1946 Columbia Pictures Technicolor Production, a musical biography which tells the life story of singer Al Jolson. It was a huge success and was followed up by the 1949 sequel Jolson Sings Again.
It was directed by Alfred E Green and won Academy Awards for Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture, and Best Sound Recording (John Livadary). It was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Larry Parks), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (William Demarest), Best Cinematography, Color and Best Film Editing.
Anniversary Song is the title given this piece by Al Jolson, when he and Saul Chaplin adapted it for this film. It is actually Waves of the Danube, written in 1880 by the Romanian composer Ion Ivanovici and still one of the most famous of Romanian songs. Ivanovici is credited on this sheet music.

The cover is a rare full-color printing.

Cinderella's Fella, by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown
From the pre-Code musical film Going Hollywood, a Cosmopolitan Production released by MGM 1933. Cosmopolitan Pictures was the company founded by Davies' lover, William Randolph Hearst.
The back cover, and consequently the last page of music, is missing here. It's four pages of music, in very good condition, plus the front cover, which is in frail condition.

Bye Bye Blackbird
is a jazz standard written in 1926 by Mort Dickson & Ray Henderson. It was first recorded by Sam Lanin's Dance Orchestra in March 1926, then was used in countless musical reviews. Its two main Broadway productions are Liza with a Z, and Fosse.
Bye Bye Blackbird
is now one of the most recognizable of American songs, having been made famous by everyone from Dean Martin to Willie Nelson, Rosemary Clooney to the Beatles, plus Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
This copy is in very good condition. There is ancient tape on the edge—it's falling off anyway, but a restorer can remove it properly.
Oddly, the covers are in a glossy stock but page 3/4 is in a different, inferior stock. That page also has a 2" tear—I have left it as is.

This is a first edition of the Crosby Still & Nash hits up to 1970, and the full music from the Crosby Still Nash & Young hit album Deja Vu (1970).The only song missing is Woodstock (which belongs to Joni Mitchell). There are two tables of contents--the Deja Vu contents, and the full list (see scans).Total is 19 songs.104 pages, including complete lyrics and some black and white photos of the band.This was produced by Warner Bros and they cut corners on the production costs. They used a thick, porous paper, which attracted dust and dirt, and which didn't hold its glue. The glue quickly dried out.The result is that the covers are quite soiled. And the book is now in two pieces--it fell apart at page 22 (Our House). This is a very good copy of Everybody's Favorite March Album for Piano, compiled by the American lawyer, trombonist and march lover Robert Marden (1927-2017).It was published by Amsco Music Publishing in 1949; this is one of the Canadian copies.The first image here is a scan; the rest are photographs.It is in excellent condition. It is undated, but the last hymn is God Save the King, and Loth started working for the Waterloo Music Co in 1942, so it's likely from the early 40s.See scan of first lines of hymns.Excellent condition. It is A Little Kiss Each Morning (A Little Kiss Each Night), which was written by Harry Woods and recorded by Vallee. It refers to the film as a 'Radio Play', although it was published in 1929, when the movie came out.
The Vagabond Lover
is a 1929 American pre-code black-and-white, comedy-drama musical film about a small-town boy who finds fame and romance when he joins a dance band. The film was directed by Marshall Neilan, and is based on the novel of the same name, by James Creelman, who also wrote the screenplay. It was Rudy Vallee's first feature film, and also starred Sally Blane, Marie Dressler, and Charles Sellon.
The film premiered in New York on November 26, 1929. A DVD version was released in 2005.

Love Me, 1927This a waltz written by the French composer T Aivaz and the French lyricist Jean Lenoir (Jean Bernard Neuberger), most famous for his 1930 song Parlez-moi d'Amour (Speak to Me of Love). The English lyrics were by Dolly Morse (Theodora Morse), who was one of the Tin Pay Alley writers.
This song was used in the French film Deja, which appears to be lost.
