George Hansen shares the stage again with Richard Schnadig in the second issue of Choice Meats Comics. Art Spiegelman, Jay Kinney and Jay Lynch also collaborate on a two-page spread, but it's still mostly one-page comics by Hansen and Schnadig, and this time they really get down and dirty. If you enjoy crudity, Choice Meats Comics #2 will make your day (especially with this first printing with Richard Schnadig's comics).There were two printings of this comic book and they are significantly different. The 1st printing is easily distinguished from the 2nd printing by completely different front cover art. The 1st printing also has eight more pages of content than the 2nd printing, as the comic was pared down to only George Hansen comics.

Despair is Robert Crumb's first existential diatribe about the perils and shittiness of modern life in America. Most of the stories are deceptively clever and provide some classic Crumb, including "It's The Ruff Tuff Creampuff" and "Fuzzy The Bunny in The Same Old Crap." However, the lead story, "It's Really Too Bad," jettisons the cleverness and just mainlines Crumb's bitter perspective about American life.Despair is certainly one of Robert Crumb's most popular one-offs, evidenced by seven printings in about seven years. It's also got one of the most enduring, effective comic covers in history. "Why bother?" indeed. Truly a mantra for the modern age.There are at least seven printings of Despair, the first six of which were produced by the Print Mint. Last Gasp printed the 7th edition. The first four printings have 50-cent cover prices. The 1st printing does not include a copyright statement anywhere in the comic book.

The writing in Mean Bitch Thrills is sometimes disjointed but Manuel "Spain" Rodriguez provides dynamic visuals to bolster the adventure. His bold lines and high- contrast style are effectively employed throughout the book. Rodriguez's style is not everyone's cup of tea, but for those who enjoy his work, Mean Bitch Thrills delivers a raucous good time.There are two printings of this comic book and they are considered indistinguishable from one another. The 1st printing was 15,000 copies and the 2nd printing was 20,000 copies.
