The dust jacket shows some rubbing to the rear panel and is protected now in a clear archival sleeve. Written in Chinese with English translations of the Section and Chapter titles, as well as a brief biography of Joe Ming Chu, this book is a memoir of architectural achievements from Texas to Taiwan, as well as a look back at life, travel, and artistic pursuits. Austin, Texas: University of Texas Press, 2003. Book. Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. [xiii] 316 pages. Index. Foreword by Peter G. Rowe (Dean, Faculty of Design, Harvard University). From the publisher: "Built around characteristic features of modern life such as rapid change, built-in obsolescence, indeterminacy, media orientation, a culture of style, and instant gratification, Houston is an ephemeral city, hard to pin down and understand. This title explores the developmental history and architecture of this flat, sprawling, free-spirited city." Cite, the Architecture and Design Review of Houston has published on this topic since 1982. Twenty-five articles have been selected by the editors from the publication's first twenty years for this book. The ample text is beautifully illustrated with 224 black and white photographs, maps, and plans. The contents are organized into three parts. PART I: IDEA OF THE CITY (Introduction by Bruce C. Webb). PART II: PLACES OF THE…

Great Britain: Academy Editions, 1994. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. First Edition. Folio. Trace of wear, bumping to corners and light wear at the upper corner of the dust jacket, front panel. 264 pages with Bibliography and Glass Glossary. 396 illustrations, mostly in color. The majority of his work in glass was concentrated into the first decade of the 20th century when Wright abandoned old-fashioned stained glass windows and began experimenting with light screens of concrete developing into wood fretwork and glass block and tubing." -------Oversized book that will require extra postage for Priority and International shipping.-------.
