DJ shows scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Red cloth boards underneath show some smudge marks along with minor wear, with the worst being the bottom right corner area of the rear board. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight like the book was hardly used. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting, no underlining, no remainder marks, no library markings. Text pages are clean but end pages and pastedowns show some smudge marks and brown staining near the lower inside corner areas.

Exterior shows a few drops and wipe marks which can really only be seen when you hold the book at an angle to the light. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Pages are clean and bright like book was never used. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks, nothing torn or loose. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where there is faint remnants a price that was once penciled in the corner and then later erased.

Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the publisher's wife on the front end page: "To Mr. Haverstick With Complements - Mrs. G. Dorrance". Exterior shows some spotting and soiling, spine shows some creasing to the cloth. Edges and corners are slightly bumped. Internal binding is good though the front hinge looks a bit sloppy and may have been repaired in the past. The front pastedown also contains the name and address of a previous owner. No other handwriting found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings. Pages are yellowed due to age and type of paper used and foxing/spotting is scattered throughout, with the end pages and pastedowns being rather heavy.

Hardcover, olive green cloth boards with blindstamped design on front. Ivory design in text is worn and mostly missing from spine. Akron, OH: Saalfield Pub. Co., 1943. 1st Edition . Soft cover. VG-. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Ethel Hays. See photos for condition details. Call softcover, measuring 12.75 inches in height. Exterior is toned and has scuffs and soiling spots present. There is also a remnants of probably a name that was written in the lower right corner near the words "Cloth -like". This is the only handwriting found in the book. All the pages are toned due to age but nothing is torn, though there is edge and corner wear/bumps. The ABC book goes through all the letters and assigns boards to them in the last three pages has the rhyme for learning numbers one through 20. The next to the last page (covering numbers one through 14) is very slightly offset by about 1/4 of an inch which barely cuts into the edge of the end character of three sentences.

The original price of $5.95 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows minor spotting and shelf wear, which mainly consists of edge and corner bumps/tears. Blue cloth boards underneath are clean without any issues. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues and text pages are tight as it appears the book was never read. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no remainder marks. Pages are clean though the exterior page edges show foxing spots, which is the only reason this book was grade as near fine instead of fine condition. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

Hardcover, thin green boards with yellow title on front. Exterior shows minor scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are tone due to age and some minor foxing and spotting is present. A couple pages had corner folds but no handwriting, signatures or bookplates were found in book. Rear pace down shows a wear mark near the gutter where the surface of the paper is missing.

Hardcover with unclipped dust jacket, inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page. The DJ shows scuffing and soiling along with edge bumps/chips/small tears. The blue cloth boards underneath show some bumping and scuffing but are clean overall. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No other signatures, no bookplates, no library markings. There is one serious issue which involves the frontispiece, as it has a large tear at the bottom that measures around 2.25 inches in length. It appears as was caused by somebody trying to race a price that was penciled on the back of the dust jacket, lower corner. All the remaining pages are clean and without issues.

New York: George H. Doran Company, 1920. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, light brown cloth boards decorated in black on front and spine. The exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The spine has several darker smudge spots present. The internal binding has some minor issues though for the most part is good. Decorated end pages in front and rear with hinges at boards good. The only minor hinge issues found is there's two spots noted, one at page 76 and the other at page 205 where there is a little bit of pulling on the spine and you can just start to see the webbing underneath. The second end page contains a bookmark of the original owner. No other markings found. No handwriting, no library markings, no remainder marks. Philadelphia, PA: The Times Publishing Company, 1892. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, full leather binding decorated on front with portrait of Lincoln. The book is in poor shape with both the front and rear boards detached, most of spine is missing. The internal binding is complete though the front decorated end page is also detached. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present. Remaining pages are secure though paper is toned due to age. First edition thus with a single date of 1892 appearing on the title and copyright pages with no additional printings listed. Tissue guard to frontispiece is still present and attached. All exterior page edges gilt. This book is in rough shape and is basically in pieces, but is complete. As a first edition this is a good candidate for rebinding.

Indianapolis / New York: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1948. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $3.00 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows spotting and scuffing along with edge chips and small tears. The underside of jacket was neatly reinforced with masking tape along the top and bottom, over the decades the tape is become dry and brittle and can easily be detached just by flexing the paper (the bottom piece already came off). The dry tape glue residue still remains on the underside of the jacket though. Red cloth boards underneath the clean and corner sharp. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or personal bookplates, no handwriting, no remainder marks, nothing torn or loose. Hardcover with original dust jacket that still has the price of 7s. 6d.Net on the front flap. DJ shows quite a bit of chipping and wear along the edges, spine and edges also sunned. Black cloth boards underneath show spotting, mainly to the finish of the cloth as well as edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Paper is toned due to age and there is foxing spots present, though this is mainly limited to the first few pages in the front as well as the rear. Foxing is also present on the exterior page sides. The copyright page states first published 1929, though this was released a year prior in the US - making this the first UK edition.

New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Company, 1923. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Anne Merriman Peck. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, pale green boards decorated on front. Exterior shows light handling wear, mainly smudge marks along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards, though there is some minor pulling in spots, such as at page 62. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing present along with a few light smudge marks. The front end page shows some indentations along the top which is mirrored on the front pastedown. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. The only evidence of handwriting found is in the upper outside corner of the front end page we can just make out where a price was once penciled and then later erased.

Hardcover, original marbled paper cover boards half bound in leather with black label to spine. Exterior shows wear and soiling in leather is frayed and peeling to the finish. Internal binding is good other than some minor pulling. Pages are lightly tone due to age and some foxing and spotting is present with the worst being the end pages. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting or library markings present. Laws include several sections on slaves and ownership, an interesting section on what defines a militia (pages 33 - 37) stating it is to be organized to provide for the defense of the commonwealth with officers and regiments, brigades etc. This is the original publication from 1858, not a modern reprint.

Hardcover, original marbled paper cover boards half bound in leather with red and black labels to spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling with cracking in wear to the leather. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout. Front hinge is starting to open in the center. Previous owners names are written in several areas, it appears as book was passed down from father to son with the front and rear pastedowns showing the name R. S. Brown - May 1886, in the first end page shows the name C. L. Brown. In addition, the original owner signed 'Brown" twice on the title page. No other handwriting found in the book. Rear pastedown show some peeling to the edges.
